Had my 1.5 '150' Golf, (DADA) remapped in August 2022, unluckily it was in 31 degrees heat.
I'd asked for a broad spread of power, which took it to 127 KW@ 5070 rpm / 314 Nm@ 2990,
which I was pleased with, especially when I discovered the tuner had also updated the sports
monitor from it's previous factory set maximum of 110 KW without me asking.
13 months later, I had the same tuner do a routine
service on my now 4 year old car and had
a power run done on the same rollers to see how it was now performing after he fitted new
plugs and was on a much cooler day, (13 degrees.) The results were a surprise, given that the
new plugs and cooler temps were the only differences - 137 KW / 360 Nm, which is just above
the max limit of 350 Nm for the MQ250 manual gearbox fitted. Note that both results were
using the standard VAG airbox and trunking, lightly modded to Golf GTE-like specification with
the snow grate removed and a drop-in BMC panel filter, although a trusty Bosch or whatever
paper element would make minimal or no difference. Point being you don't buy expensive
fancy intake systems for any extra power, only for show and/or extra noise if that's your thing.
This Golf is now at 42K miles and is still pulling well, with no known adverse effects so far and
returned around 4% better fuel economy than stock if driven normally, but of course boosting
it everywhere for fun will drag the average down from around 43 MPG to nearer 38.
