1.6 sx coupe .

hi all , I've just bought a 1.6 sx coupe and wanted to put some larger alloys on. I was thinking of 17's but is there anything I need to watch out for as this is my first car and I dont know an awful lot. My dad said something about the offset of the wheels ?? ok whats this.
Any help would be gratefully recieved.

i've got 17's on mine think there 38et (offset) there no real issue other than they scrap the arch liners on full lock

I but 17's on mine not 100% sure of offest but no probs girlfriends ibiza has 17's and lowered alot no probs other than i took the arch liners out to give a little more clearance.
