Hi All!

right this is my first post so i'm kind of new to this, basically i've have got the new ibiza cupra 1.8 tsi and i have recently had it remapped (huge boost in power btw! not sure of the pure output as i havent dyno'd it yet) and after about 1000 miles with this remap the clutch started slipping.

The clutch problem has now been resolved as i amused it was a manufactures default and requested a new clutch under warranty which is what has happened.

To my knowlege the clutch that is in the new 1.8tsi is the same clutch as a 2.0tsi golf r (correct me if im wrong) so realistically the clutch should handle a stage 2 with ease never mind a stage 1 remap.

What im trying to get to basically has anyone had the same problem as me? or does anyone have any advice on what i should do so the same problem doesn't happen again with this new clutch.

When the clutch got replaced i did see the old clutch and visually there was no reason on why the clutch was slipping as it still looked fairly new and not worn to the extent where it should be slipping.

roughly the output on my car now is 240bhp with about 420nm of torque.

Cheers guys for any advise! :)

Hello Mate,
Is your car manually? or Automatic?
I have the same car Manual for about half a year with Stage 1 and about ~232whp and never had an issue with the clutch...

Hi mate,

It's a manual mate, hopefully it was just a faulty clutch but like I said I'm just scared that I'm putting too much stress on the clutch, how many miles have you done since the remap?

Hey BK16CONNOR
i got the same car now only 9000 km on ma stage 1 on 240 hp and 400 Nm
and
same problem

u can see :
youtube link pm :) cant post link

How did you get the warranty?
after stage 1 remap ?

Thx !

You remove the stage1 remap and go to the dealer :)
I am at 13500KM with my ride and no issues with the clutch yet :)
Did you try to see maybe you are doing something wrong? this clutch should handle stage1 with no problems...

You are talking about the sound? also that is not the new cupra 1.8TSI manual, right? it sound like the DSG 1.4TSI, no ?

its the 1.8 tsi 6 gear M sound is the bov :) and miltech catback

Ibiza cupra 6p :)

the test is driving in 6 gear on motorway 130 Kmp

and then gas flat and then you see it slipping clutch, rpm goes up but slipping clutch

sorry for my bad eng

Hi mate,

The remap that is in mine isn't detectable through seat diagnostic systems so I got away with it luckily, if I experience any slipping at all with this new clutch the remap will be coming straight off, I've spoke to my tuner and he knows people with stage 2 on the 1.8tsi and they haven't experienced any clutch problems. Hopefully it's just a one off!

Hello Mr. Conard,

thanks for your inquiry for a ZF Race Engineering SACHS Performance clutch.

Unfortunately, ZF Sachs don´t offer any reinforced/Performance clutches for your Seat Ibiza Cupra 1.8TSI.

It´s also not possible to make a custom made clutch, based on an original clutch kit, for your car.
After all, I can´t offer you anything. - I´m very sorry!

If you´ve any further questions, don´t hesitate to contact me.

Kind Regards from Hamburg, Germany!

Benny Adolphs

Tomorrow I'll call my tuner for more information he would have a clutch!!

if i got the info i wil make a post !

I just found out that the fastest and cheapest way will be to upgrade the original clutch to ceramic...

Hello, I own same car you got and I heated about many problems with those clutches..
Even on stock they doesn't hold well..
Many friend of mine that tuned those ibizas suffer from same problem with their clutch.
I really want to remap my car but afraid that the clutch with slip.
Did someone already changed to upgraded clutch?
I'm really looking for it but seems no one found it yet.

I wonder if there is minor changes between the Euro model to the Israeli model.. didn't hear about problem with the clutch slipping even with stage 1.. I my own have stage 1 with 237 WHP and no problem with the clutch.
