Certainly, thank you. +1 rep for the info, +1 rep for keeping your word.

I think it's going to be too expensive when other factors are added. It's just not worth the expenditure in my eyes, especially seeing how she had a new water pump and cambelt just last week thanks to the old pump going up the swanny.

Disappointing but I need to have my sensible cap on! Thanks to everyone who has contributed!

There is that route! I might get a 350Z. Built in reliability and 300bhp 260lbft out of the box.

I'm something of a Japanese virgin. I've had German/UK (Corsa), French (C2), German/Spanish (Leon) so I'll have to decide for myself how soulful the Japs are!

All the shitty civics/paseos etc near where i am does my nut in!! Too much shitty noise from a piece of bob!

The exhaust note on a 350Z is something else. There absolutely no need for an aftermarket exhaust system on a 350 (in terms of noise) as the standard system sounds so good!

Edit: agreed on the Civics (you have Paseos near you? I don't think I've ever seen one in the flesh.). That high revving, high pitched NA side of Japanese cars doesn't interest me. Granted the 350 is NA, but it's large displacement NA so all is forgiven!

My particular line of interest is American muscle. More specifically, late 60's, early 70's MOPAR. Unfortunately, as the years go by they gain more and more value! Fortunately, the American muscle industry has had something of a renaissance of late so in a few years I'm hoping for some relatively cheap new blood.

Instead of 300bhp why not let Bill map her to normal stage 1 levels? Its going to be night and day in terms of feel and you might be very happy with it.

Theres nothing really wrong with the rods in our cars. Ive been running my levels for years so considering the factory power id have to say we cant complain that the conrods in a very good BT system and driven normally(ish) can handle upto 320/330 lbs/ft . Id still recommend upgrading rods if want to max things out but no point in rebuilds as i think the next barrier is around 400bhp.

The trick is knowing how to map these levels in such a way theres no spiking and things are kept sufficently cool. Its not really the rods, its the mapping thats causing premature rod death or wot boxes.

If your engine is running sweet, take it to a very experienced tuner like bill or jabba that really know the limitations, let them health check it and if sound a custom map that increases bhp but keeps the torque low so you have piece of mind and you'll love your car.

Be easy enough to sell the car on and get something else if it doesnt impress.
