Changing turbo so whats a upgrade available to me an do I need fmic or remap etc?? Cheers.

I'm researching turbo upgrades at the moment so I'll summarise what I've found already:

Hybrid = (17/22 or GT1749VC) Straight swap with a standard setup as this turbo is a GT1749VB (PD150/PD160) with upgraded internals which see max power around 220bhp on stock injectors and turbo pretty much maxed out. Readily available to bolt on power upgrades. For full potential you'll need a FMIC, uprated clutch and remap.

GTB1756VK = (2.7/3.0tdi - third generation VNT) More work involved. Custom Manifold (or welded), downpipe flanges and turbo outlet pipe. Will see around 220-230bhp on stock injectors but turbo delivering more boost longer over rev range. Spools similar to stock turbo so suited to daily driving well. For full potential you'll need a FMIC, uprated clutch and remap.

GTB2260VK = Same work as the GTB1756VK with install, however will see 280-300bhp with Firad 80%+ Noozles etc... This route isn't cheap and you'll need SMF as DMF won't last long and LSD to keep the power on the ground. Also spool times are a little longer so power range is higher on the rev range. For full potential you'll need a FMIC, uprated clutch, SMF, injectors and remap.

GTB2056VKLR - (Ballbearing Water Coooled - Mercedes) Best compromise for both spool and boost. Sits between GTB2260 and GTB1756VK but rare to get hold of with vacuum conversion.

Would like to know the routes you both take! I emailed dark side about their gtb2260vk kit and for everything they recommend it was £6000 for around 260 which I thought was dear to say the least! so a hybrid 17/22 will bolt on nothing else required?

Where did you buy this from if you dont mind me asking?

Turbo centre in west Yorkshire 460 brand new garrett overnight delivery for tommorow...comes with manifold bolts straight on and obviously is ready for a remap

Six grand?!?! I'm guessing this included a fully forged engine as part of the price??

No no internals, please tell me everyone is shocked with the price!

That's a lot for only 260bhp!

I hope that included a new clutch, flywheel, exhaust, FMIC with hard pipe kit, new gtb2260 turbo, MAP sensor, remap, back massage and Vaseline for the bill!

I'm looking at £1500 for a self build for a GTB1756VK which will achieve about 220-230bhp

Yeah that's everything that you have said! And injectors, LSD, manifold! still a lorry load of cash like!

Sounds like 260bhp would be a conservative estimate for that though, and the LSD would really help get that power down onto the road! You're very right though, you'd need money to throw away to be able justify that sort of cash!
