1.9 TDI problems

Hi guys,

I got this 1.9 TDI a few months ago. It's in great nick, high mileage (125k) but it's been superb so far.

However, a couple of days ago it started "lagging" (I can't explain it properly) but it jutters when you try to accelerate and the engine sounds strange. I let my dad take it out and he says it feels like a petrol car thats misfiring (where a spark plus is broke) but obviously it doesn't have spark plugs since it's a diesel!

We took it to the garage and the guy says he's not sure what it is, he's drained the fuel pump and stuff and it wasn't that, we're wondering if it could be a problem with the injectors? There's a diagnostics guy coming down to see it tomorrow hopefully that sheds some light on it. i don't really want to take it to Seat as it'll cost an arm and a leg but if we can't fix it there that's what i'll have to do.

Has anyone heard of similar issues or have any suggestions as to what it could be?

Thanks in advance!

Did he replace the fuel filter?

Other than that, vag com, see what that shows.

What area you live in, loads of Vag specialists. Loads better, and cheaper than SEAT.

Thanks for that mate. I'm taking it back tomorrow, he's got a diagnostics guy coming in to have a look, I'm assuming that's vag? Hopefully that will he'd some more light.

Limp mode? Not sure. I have to say, it runs for about 10 minutes before this happens with no problems

Hey,

I managed to get the problem fixed, yes.

The problem was apparently caused in the electrics, and the solution was to replace the "injector loom" part, which cost around £60 from SEAT. It's just a plastic loom about a foot long with loads of connector sockets that come off it. Fitting cost me around £100, but that's in a friends garage. It might cost you more - apparently the loom comes out sideways across the engine bay towards the nearside wheel, so everything has to be taken off to get it out.

I hope this helps
