Hi,

I picked up my new FR last saturday, went over it very carfully and found no problems, on Monday morning I noticed a scratch on the passenger door, about an inch long showing white. I had been nowhere to get this done so I guess it must have been done before I picked it up but no comeback now.
And today, I went out to the shops in Ealing, drove to the top of the multi story, not a single car there, parked, came park to find only 2 others cars there out of about 300 spaces, one parked next to me and had opened it door into mine leaving a small scratch on the edge of the drivers door. You can imagine how annoyed I was, waited for a bout 30mins but no one came back.

Anyone know is the Supaguard treatment would get rid of these 2 scratches? Or if the garage would fix them as part of doing the supaguard which I haven't signed up to yet?

Supaguard won't fix these I'm afraid. It's really just a paint sealant which is there to provide another coating over your wax to make it last longer.

Your best bet is someone like dentmaster unless you want a respray which will be painfully expensive I'd guess.

If you're worried about scratches going forward your best best is something like armourfend

Sorry to hear about this. Its happened to me before and is a sickener.

I feel for you mate. I have a scratch on my driver side door at the moment, its not too bad and it might be able to buff it out but not sure.
Like the previous post said Supaguard will not fix the scratch.

You want this:

At least you only got a scratch. I was parked the other week in a carpark only to find some idiot had reversed into the front of my Leon causing a big gash on the front bumper completely removing the paint, smashed the headlight and made the bumper pop out at the side by the wheel arch.
~£750 of damage :headhurt:

I'm glad i'm not the only one it happens to, not that will make you feel any better.

I always drive to the top floor or a space where no one can park next to me, I fu:censored:ing hate wa:censored:kers that open car doors into other peoples cars, they should be shot!!! And no it's not harsh!

Three time on different cars I have had people either do the doors and knock something on the car, the worst was someone at work the did it and said nothing, I only found out who did it by going around the car park and looking for a car that had matching paint, then confronted them and they owned up, cheeky git.

The mrs takes the piss out of me now because of that advert on the telly, where the guy drives around the car park finds a good space and then the plane engine lands on his car.

Hope you get it sorted:)

Huh? Thought it looked more like a Satellite!? ;)

Know exactly what you mean there - get back to your car to find a nasty 'ding' in the door (or worse), and just know that someone had been there not long ago and done that (and was probably aware of it too)!! ...

One day I WILL catch them in the act! [:@]

EDIT: I have tried using a product called McGuiers ScratchX recently. Gets alot of praise.
However, it really didnt appear to make any difference to the 'blemish' I was trying to remove!

I just don't want to make it any worse or remove a layer of paint on a car that is just 10 days old. DO you think the garage would do it for free in exchange for paying them to do supaguard?

probably not! have you done a search on threads to see what supraguard actually involves. supraguard basically involes the dealer washing your car and not much other work than that. so removing a scratch is like real work for the garage compared to that.

it might be worth reading up on supraguard before signing up to get it done. i was going to get it done by the dealer but changed my mind after knowing more about it. i dont want to say whether its good or bad cos i dont know, ive just decided to use other products instead myself as it worked out cheaper.

I bought the Supagard kit on ebay for £25 and did it myself. It is relatively straightforward and takes an hour or two. basically as said before it seals the paint giving a nice sheen to the car when clean, in theory the car is supposed to clean easier afterwards. Subjectively it is, the dead bugs on the front come off easier than any other car I've cleaned without it.

Supagard is a big profit maker for dealers as they usually charge £300 ish, but with that you do get a warranty where they will sort out belmishes like bird sh*t staining the paint (but not car park dings). You obviously don't get the warranty with the ebay stuff but it is the same product.
