I was debating about going for a de-cat but for the MOT purposes and to save hassle I have decided to go for a Sports Cat..

Anyway 100 cell & 200 cell cats, does the 100 cell pass the MOT with no problems?

Will there be any sound difference between the 100 cell and 200 cell?

General google shows up that the cell 100 is more popular, but some people say have the 200 cell to make sure you pass the MOT but wanted to check for our cars

Thanks..

Hi mate. Iv got a blueflame 100cell dp on it and it goes for it's first mot next week. I'm not particularly worried as I know a few people with the same setup that flew through on emissions. There was an opinion a while ago that it might pass with a decat as well.

Ive not heard if anyone failing with a sports cat... Yet. Lol

My old car with S2+ Revo and 200 Cell Milltek passed no problem. There are reports of decat cars pasing but never any proof. May be the case of a fifty pound note and an accidental slip of the probe up the wrong exhaust.

There is a member on vag oc who passed with a decat after a good drive

My S3 passed recently with a de-cat, however as said before there is no proof that the guy testing my car (a family friend) didn't manipulate the readings in some way. I never asked him to but I get the feeling he may have done it for me automatically.

When I mentioned the de-cat to him he said it would probably pass anyway and I've got the emissions test results sheet thing, this means nothing to me though its just tons of numbers!

At the end of the day I don't know how much extra performance you will get from running de-catted but if it's going to be any hassle at all then it's definetly not worth it.

My brother in laws Astra GSi failed due to no cat, and it's only just eligible to need one (K reg, I believe they introduced compulsory cats that year?). In his case it was nothing to do with emissions, it was a visual check to see if he had one or not, and an instant fail because he didn't.

Perhaps he just had bad luck with the tester not getting laid the night before...

Realistically i'm sure it's a minimal gain to go decat anyway. I chose to save myself the potential agro and just opted for the 100 cell race cat.

The biggest advantage of a decat is lower EGT, which could hold off the car entering EGT protect mode when pushing on.

Logging shanes stock car saw a WOT pull from 3rd to end of 4th resulting in the car entering EGT control mode ie running rich to cool things down which will reduce power.

Pov. which blocks is the EGT measured from and what are you looking for with regards the figures?

Last year my car flew through the emissions test with a Blueflame TBE 100 Cell Cat on it's MOT

Erm not entirely sure on the blocks its slightly different on the 2.0TFSI to the 2.5tfsi ob vcds

If you do advanced logging it will come up as EGT cat, and egt projection.

Log those two and the actual lambda and requested lambda. Shows how hot your EGTs are getting, and at what point the car decides to start richening the AFR to cool things down
