Hi all,

First post here, seeking some advice...

Looking to buy a 2013 Mk3 Leon. Engine is 1.2 tsi (opted for the smaller engine as I'm young so insurance is a factor). Spec is SE with the Technology pack, so includes start-stop, sat nav, rear parking sensors etc. Mileage is only 8600. It was the dealer's demo initially, then bought from them and traded back in recently, so service history is flawless. Test drive was extremely smooth, and the low mileage means it's in great condition - bodywork perfect, interior immaculate.

Can anyone shed any light on what this will be like to live with, costs of repairs, mpg, common faults, annoyances etc?

Thanks in advance!

The 1.2 TSI is an excellent engine that goes well beyond its capacity. Had it in my Polo, loved it.

The only annoyances I've had (albeit in my Cupra) are a few rattles. Speedo rattle fixed under warranty by my local dealership; the door card rattles I fixed myself. Nothing else to report.

Hi, I have just traded in my Leon 1.2 TSI SE after 3 years for a new 1.4 FR ( I'm old so insurance isn't a problem !! )
The 1.2 is great engine, good power and torque for its size. Good consumption too, my average was usually around 47mpg. On a long run on the motorway down south, it recorded 56mpg on the trip computer. No problems apart from a glitch with the media system fixed under warranty and a wee rattle now and again depending on the outside temperature. Thought long and hard about another 1.2 as it was so good but the FR with the 1.4 Eco TSI has great reviews and I'm loving it.
If you go for it I'm sure you will be pleased

I have this spec. Had it for 3 years. Delighted. Choose your dealer carefully and you will be a happy bunny. (Sorry Easter is here)

I've also got this model - computer showing 43.2 mpg, I don't do long journeys much, usually use it to do 4 or 5 miles at best. Only thing I really wish it had was folding door miirors.

Test driving the Leon 1.2TSi petrol DSG was what made me decide to buy my first ever SEAT Leon - I was amazed how well this relatively small engine performed, especially with the DSG gearbox! I ended up getting a 1.8TSi petrol DSG Leon instead in October 2013 because I wanted an FR petrol with DSG, and at the time, that was the only FR petrol DSG combination available, but I still remember how impressed I was with the 1.2 engine, and this was after seriously considering getting an automatic Kia Ce'ed, Ford Focus, Honda Civic or VW Golf!
