The CR engine went into the FL FR Leon from May 09. So all FL FR have the CR engine. The 2 litre 140 is still a PD unit and have not heard if Seat are going to fit the newer CR 143 unit?

After driving my mums VW Scirocco with the CR170, the PD170 defiantly feels like it packs more punch but the CR is a lot smoother :)

Danny.

The PD does not give such a linear power delivery and has a narrower powerband hence getting that lovely surge that makes the car feel more punchier. The CR 170 was very much like the 120d Coupe we test drove and my previous FL 118d. Although at idel the CR 170 was smoother than my 118d!!

guys would i be correct in saying that out of the pd & cr engine most would opt for the cr ? my current 140 pd does sound a bit ruff now and again (serviced properly) prior to this i had the 130 pd beezer fr and loved the shove it was amazing:rolleyes:
also can i confirm that the leon does not yet have a cr 143 ?

I would deffo have CR although I hav never owned a PD car

CR has come a long way since Fiat first introduced it. Punp Duse is a far cheaper and more robust than CR though. But it has struggled on emissions and even though the fuel pressure is very high it cannot inject diesel with the same precision as a CR engine with the newer piezo injectors. This means more noise during combustion and poor emsions and was a big iusse with PD DPF equipped cars sooting up.

Nope th Len strangley has not gone for the CR engine maybe on cost grounds as the CR units are much more expensive the current sport would jump up in price by at least £500 at a guess. Ibiza FR will get the 143 lump though.
