1998 ibiza 1.4 estilio starting problems

Hi,

I have a 1998 Ibiza Estilio 1.4. I have had it for about a year and when starting I have always had to apply upward pressure when starting with the key. After its last MOT I have been having the intermittent problem of the car not turning over when I turn the key no matter how much pressure I put on it in any direction.

Just asking if anyone has any ideas on what the problem might be.

I only got one key with the car and a seperate VW key which opens the doors. I opened the key but there seems to be no circuitry inside, only what appears to be a small weight at one side of the key housing, the rest of the case is empty.

Could this be an immobiliser problem or would it be an issue inside the key barrel.

Basically sometimes the car will start other times it wont go at all, but I always have to put upward pressure on the key when starting.

Thanks..

Mark

this is more likely to be the ignition switch matey, cheap enough new from TPS, they fit at the end of the ignition barel and are comon for failing. easy to change also

The small weight is a chip inside your key. Make sure its cleaned and dont be loosing it. Last time i dropped it the car would start but die straight after.
