19x8.5 ET45 on LC. Asking for trouble?

Anyone running this size?

I really think the Cupra needs some 19's and found something that I like in this size. Also What tyres you reckon for 19x8.5? I'm thinking maybe some 225's instead of 235's to give some stretch and help with clearance if (when lol) I decide to drop it.

usually have 225 on 18" rims, may need lower profile on 19" if you plan lowering later but I wait for someone who has done it to comment. I'm still running 18" on std suspension at the moment

Stretch

Get something that enhances performance, and not something that inhibits it.

All depends on the type of wheel, Sportec even goes a bit further and does 19x8.5 with et42 and 235 tyres. It will work on an FR (and lower) but a Cupra will need a lot of work (in the front and not just remove a screw and fold a bit of plastic). I would stick with 19x8 and max Et48 and go for a 235 tyre (a bit higher top speed/rim protection) or stick with a 225 tyre (and no stretch....).
All is with lowering since 19" and standard hight really looks bad.....

Hmmm I don't think 225 on a 8.5J is too excessive. I just really don't wanna run into rubbing issues.

Thanks man.

Why the diff between the FR and the Cupra? Just the brakes or is there something else im not thinking about?

I also thought of some BBS LM replicas....but they have just been done to death.

Cupra has some alloy bits in the front axle and is slightly wider than all the other models.
With a cupra I would stay away from bad quality replica's. I've got the polished BBS CK AIR II that fill the arches completely and look different (if you like bling).

There's a set of BBS CK 19's for sale on my local forum, I just cant even nearly afford them :(

Thanks for the help. I'll definitely test fit whatever I end up going for first. I'd love to have some nice wide rims but not if they gonna cause issues.

I dont know but if I ask dealer BBS in my country Slovakia about buying 19" BBS model CH 19x8 ET 45 on my car Cupra R they said me that rims are not good for my car because my break are wide :) I have some problem to find for my car nice rims but information that size 8.5x19 ET 45 with tyres 235/35 is correct for Cupra is fine. I hope that Cupra R will be the same.

There are no 19" CH rims available in ET45. It's 51 which is perfect for Leon or 35 which is defo too wide (51 in 8j and 35 in 8 and 8.5j).
CK is in ET44 and will fit but only with 225 (235 wil rub).

Are you sure you did'nt ask for BBS ch in 18" while these are ET45 (and available in Motorsport version and the "made by BBS" heavier VW version)

there are rims which I wanted on my Cupra R
http://www.bbsdisky.sk/wheels/design-line/ch-r

All is peculiar becuase I would like to want 19" rims model CH-R but this rim is not in 19" !!!!
Maybe Cuprarob112 you have true. I have confusion from rims now and their ET. Two weeks I find some nice rims for my car and I cant find. On the other side guy from BBS Slovakia said me that any BBS rims good for my Cupra R for brakes !!!!!!!! I dont believe this information. What you means about this info?
My opinion that for Cupra R is good rims 8x19 ET 45 with tyres 235/35/R19. Other than 19" rims for my car is not possible :)

What you need is BBS CH026 motorsport wheels (Could be called R now since BBS changed some models since they nearly went bankrupt) and These are 8x19 ET51 (the black version comes with stainless rim protectors).

I had these myself last year and they fit perfect on an R (in the rear 5-7 mm spacers on each side is possible).

could you send me some legacy where I can see photos ? My opinion that ET 51 is much not for only Cupra R but for all type 1P. The best size for me for Leon 1P is 8x18 ET 40 tyres 225/40/R18 but as I wrote I must stay in 19" rims because I have new tyres Pirelli P Zero :) Thanks for advice !!!

Do you agree with me that size 8x19 ET 45 with tyres 235/35/R19 Will be good ?! This size has ASA GT1 http://sracing.sk/eshop/disk/asa-gt1-shiny-silber/19

I wanted Advan Racing ASV F7 but I have problem with ET :-(

Here some pics.

The white Fr has 8x19 et35 on it (and some massive work on the front arches)
The black Cupra (which is equal to your R) has ET51 on it. 5 mm spacers on the rear is possible but arches allready look "filled"
As for driveability the CH's on the cupra are perfect and make no difference to some quality 18" wheels.

that white one looks 100% a shop.

I'm running 19 x 8 ET 42 Golf R rims with 225 / 35 Falkens.. down 50mm on Eibach Sportlines.

no rubbing appart from when u hit a massive dip in the road at speed, the front scuffs ever so slightly
