Just wondering if a 2.0 16v GTI engine and gearbox would fit i a polo 6n, also if anyone knows about anyone who has done this conversion?

Any help appreciated :)

Thanks

Yeap it'll fit, you'll have to fabricate a few bits and bobs but you can shoe horn it in no probs :) I once saw a VR6 and a 2.0 16v Polo on ClubPolo, used to have a MK4 myself ;)

Ive heard differently.

A friend of mine has a 6n polo and he wanted my ABF when i planned to do a 20vt conversion in my valver.

Apparently, they ABF won't fit in a 6n as its a tall block.

You can *just* squeeze one in, depending on how low you have it in the engine bay and i think the bonnet supports will need trimming also. 20VT is a pain due to all the turbo and associated items. Its a shame they chose to give the polo a small engine bay really.

the engine mounts in the 6n are different !! there are no mounts on the fron of the engine on the 6n so the mounts are different!! it will no slot stright in it will fit stright into a mk2 ibiza and the cupra lump will not fit stright into a 6n... u will have to fabricate 2 mounts to fit a 2.0 16v and a 20v t into a 6n

As said ''Engine mounts are different. But anything is possible'' Just got to have a little vision, a welder, lots of patience and spare time.
