Thinking of getting a Touran with the above engine fitted, Are these engines similar to the PD130 lumps but with a 16v head on or is there more to it.

Remap wise were looking at 185bhp/300lb.ft and they dont come with DPF's right?

What common probs are there with these engines or are they pretty rock solid and should run and run as long as they are maintained properly..

Thanks in advance

Thats a relief...

Having read so many horror stories about clogging DPF's and not regenerating etc, not just VAG but in the 1.9 CDTI 150 Vx lumps

There's a safety recall on the Dual Mass Flywheel (DMF), make sure it's been done of get it done. Much smoother engine than the 1.9ltr 130 lump. Mine's up to 80k now and just loves the remap I had done a few weeks back. If you want my recommendation for a remap company, ask away.

Well.... Your right, just found a recall check thing online.

It says the dmf might catch fire!

Also to check the tandem fuel pump bolts, as the might shear.

Can these engine cope with similar torque to the 1.9 8v or do these slip once remapped aswell?

Thanks

Bottom end is the same but head, cam profile plus two cams not one, injectors,ECU,turbo manifold, head studs are the main differences. Engine is a lot more smoother then a 1.9 PD and can produce some decent power with the right mods.

Could of sworn I had seen specs in the past that suggested it was a few mm larger, you have re-educated me Mike my appologies for misleading. Never the less it can certainly handle more torque over the standard 1.9 clutch.
