2.0 TDI FR 170 continually failing emissions tests

So your starting with the temp sensor then.

On another note my old 08 PD170 FR was passed on to my son it passed its MOT today 0.1 on the dot. Plate value recorded as 0.5.

I know I have a temp problem of some kind but have changed both temp sensors for genuine new ones recently.
Car seems to be over fuelling and spits out a cloud of white smoke/almost steam when starting.
Gauge never reads over the bottom value of 50. Reading the ECU it says -40 constantly.
It was intermittent at first but now never reads a temp. Considering replacing thermostat, wish I'd ordered one and done it with the sensor tbh

But yeah I'd guess that won't be helping with emissions. Although I am worried it still might not lower them enough to pass

With what you just wrote mate id go thermosat easy and cheap but even if the thermostat was open all the time there is no way it wouldnt get to temp ie 90 at some point. Id be looking at the wiring to the sensors.
