Hoping someone can help or suggest something.

Past few months when accelerating mainly up hill the car loses power as though it's gone into limp mode but the engine management light doesn't come on. Pull up switch engine off and back on again and alls ok possibly for the rest of the trip, but it could happen again 100yards down the road.

The engine management light came on eventually plugged it into a fault reader and it showed an over boost issue.

Went into the garage, who took the turbo off and cleaned it all down because one of the veins had stuck, put it back on some turbo cleaner in said it would lose power occasionally until the cleaner has gone through.

Then accelerating to join the M1 and heard a pop and the intercooler hose has popped off, went into the garage again and has now had a new intercooler as the old one had a crack in it.

Picked up yesterday, and today the same loss of owner issue has reared its head again!!!![:@][:@]

Any ideas what it can be, it's cost me £600 already with no joy!!

It's a 2.0tdi BKD Engine 140bhp

Thanks in advance!

Have you tried Millers/Forte additive or similar? I've read numerous reports they work but may need repeated use to make sure its cleaned properly. Millers for injectors - Forte for turbo veins/EGR.

From that i've read - sticking turbo veins, sticking egr and maf sensor can cause the issue.

I had one issue of the sticking turbo veins and overboosting. It should be throwing up an overboost fault code on the ObdII. I used a dose of Forte and it cleared it never to return. Unfortunately I didnt know to turn the engine off so drove 3/4's of the way back from Camber Sands to Wallington with no power. Not a lot of fun!

I had an overboost recently on my wife's 1.9tdi. Have you got access to VCDS and do some logs to narrow down the issue?

Our (100,00 mile) altea also had hot start issues and the moaning/'owl hoot' on shutdown. I've gradually worked through replacing all glow plugs, battery (just in case), removed and cleaned the anti shudder valve and EGR valve that were coked with oily soot, checked all boost pipes (found a crack in one of the plastic hard pipes) and renewed clips/seals on the intercooler (bad design and commonly fail/leak) then used the Mr Muscle oven cleaner directly into the hot/exhaust side of the turbo today.

All of these can play a part in overboost/poor running conditions. It is now so much smoother and boosts correctly. There is a lot of information in these forums and VAG forums generally about these issues, they are very common. If you can handle a spanner you will be capable of cleaning all the above with a bit of research and minimal money! Otherwise find a good indy specialist :)

Good luck!
