Im about to buy me a 2003 Golf v5, but I have NO clue if its a 150 hp version or a 170 hp version. I looked everywhere on the net but couldn't figure out how to know which version is it.

There's one very easy check, the AGZ engine (150BHP) has spark plug leads on top of the engine, with coil packs located somewhere else. The AQN engine (170BHP) uses the notoriously unreliable pencil coil packs, so you don't have traditional spark plug leads.
If you're looking to get a Golf V5, can I recommend you get yourself signed up to the Golf V5 forum, at http://www.festivalplanet.com/golfv5/phpbb3. There's a massive amount of info on there. I go on there to ask about engine questions, as the common theme is the VAG group 'VR' engines, regardless of what car they're in.
