2001 1.9 TDi Alhambra, difficult starting from hot

Would appreciate any help in directing me to a solution. It starts fine from cold but it will turn over for 10-15 seconds when it is hot, and then fire. Subsequently, fuel smell is lingering in the cabin for upto 1 hour. This was not a gradual problem, it happenned overnight since it was serviced. Thanks

did it have a fuel filter change during the service by any chance ?

sounds like the fuel system has a leak or the valve return isn't working, check round the fuel filter first for dampness but i will be honest thought it would still affect it when cold too proably more so

make sure fuel filter is ok and all pipes on properly first

Check starter speed with vagcom because if the starter is below a certain rpm when hot it takes longer to fire.
