Hi All

Just thought id ask a few questions about the Leon Cupra TDi 2004.

I have only owned the car approx 5 months after buying it from a local dealer with a full warrenty on her. In those 5 months i have had a new clutch fitted by the dealer within 1 month of having the car a new turbo fitted due to an oil seal going the next month now the new turbo sounds like a 747 taking off and the engine tray at the bottem of the car has fallen off. Is this normal to have these sort of problems???

The car is not driven by a boyracer in any way and return arround 50 to the gallon when it isnt in the garage.

The garage have been very good and sorted all the worked needed on the car but these problems are a worry to me.

Is this a friday car ( lol )

The car has only done 30 k and has full history with 1 owner from new so on paper should have been a good buy

Thanks for your help in advance

regards

MArtyn

Sounds like you've been pretty unlucky really - turbo faults like that are pretty rare.
And the engine tray falling off - that suggests it wasn't refitted properly by whoever took it off last (don't assume main dealers are immune from making mistakes...often the opposite).

At least you've not had to fight the dealers to get it all fixed so far.

Welcome to SCN by the way :)

Thanks mate

Yes not been the best five mouths in the world, thought this would be a good buy but not looking to good at the mo.

its back with the dealer having its second turbo and a 32k service so lets see what happens this time.

Thanks

Your very lucky to get a dealer to replace a clutch under warranty. At least it sounds like you bought your car from a good Seat dearship if they have fixed all of the above with no problems.

Mines done > 30k no probs at all... had it from new.

I don't hang about, plus I do quite a bit of towing, and the clutch is fine.

Sounds like it could have been chipped.

Hi Guys

thanks for all you replies your be surprised to no that its not a Seat dealer but an independant that only deal in 2 or 3 year old cars.

They have been brilliant for the clutch and turbo they sent it to my local Seat dealer to be fixed and paid all the bill !!!!!

The car isnt chipped and driven 30 miles a day by my other half all main roads so i look like this is a friday car.

As i said the car is in at the moment having a new turbo and service due so i hope it is better and we can enjoy trouble free motoring agaun

has anyone else had problems with turbos ???

thanks

some may say lala land....
Just to add, I think you have been unlucky.
Mine is also an 04 and now with 46k and no issue with clutch, turbo oar anything.
Don't get dis-heartened with it, they are cars worth keeping.

As others have said sounds like you've been a bit unlucky but at least the dealer has been willing to sort the problems out.

I've had a 53 plate Cupra TDI since new....done 45k miles and no major problems, just a couple of minor issues which were fixed under warranty. I drive fairly quickly (average around 40mpg....mix of town driving and longer journeys) but aim to drive smoothly and generally treat the car sympathetically.
