2006 Altea 2.0 tdi fuel leaking

Recent days I've started to smell diesel more and more. Being new to diesel I dismissed this as the norm. However as it has rained recently it became evident that diesel was leaking from the left hand side of the plastic pan under the engine like a dripping tap. (plenty of rainbow edged circles appearing on the wet road.) I've also had no warning lights on the dash.
Has anyone else had a similar experience?.....
Can anyone suggest what the issue might be?
May be it is tandem pump?

Are you sure it's diesel? It is very unusual to have a fuel leak, but the large pipes going around the front of the engine very often collect lots of oil, and as the joints are not very well sealed, it drips onto the undertray and then onto your drive. Maybe this is the cause. If not it should be fairly east to see a fuel leak, if you are not sure get a garage to check it out.
