with the new law coming in, where are the 2011 model ibizas gonna have their drls?

i know if you get bi xenons they are in the headlight, but thats a bit boring,

anyone know if they will replace the fogs like on the fabia vrs, cause that look meann:D

also, on the current ibiza, has anyone with normal headlights got drls on their car, and if so how are they wired in?

All cars will come with Xenons at no extra charge..

LOL! with a price increase of £600 to the original price.

Anyway i think Seat will use one of the side lights just like what VW does to their Golfs.

You can get DRL fogs from Hella to fit, like what this guy did to his Golf

FR-Power: Any chance of a link? Had a browse but can't find the DRL fogs your refering to, wouldn't mind fitting them for mine as i'm fed up of the cornering function, this seems a better use of the fogs lol

can't seem to get the proper link:
http://www.daytime-running-light.com/index_uk.html

close that little page and click on retrofit and then click LED universal variants and then LED (round design)

installation link:

Or just go to Skoda and see if you can get the Fabia VRS DRLs.

Cheers for that! Looks like they'll be around the £130 mark from Germany. Definitely on my list of mods.

yeah they do! i might fancy doing them like! OEM look FTW!!!

only problem is you would need VAG COM to switch the warning light for the OEM fogs.

Yeah they wont do xenon's on all cars, i'll be pi$$ed if they do!!

Those DLR's do look ok but you'll still be driving around with your tw@t lights on.

I've got a 2011MY Ibiza, but it did not come with DRL's! I thought they would have been there. They have to be on cars from Feb 2011, but I'm not sure if that is a manufacture date or a sell date. I suspect it must be manufacture date, as it is possible for a car built now to remain unsold in the dealer network after February.

I have looked at the side lights to see if they could be adapted to become DRLs, but the bulb holder is designed for a 5 watt W5W bulb. I have searched for a higher wattage bulb but cannot find a one.
I have also been unsuccessful in finding a bright enough LED replacement that would fit into the sidelamp location in the headlamp unit.

I have bought a set of DRLs off ebay which I'm hoping to fit into the fog light grilles. I have yet to remove the grilles to check for space behind. According to the ElsaWin manual, the bumper has to come off to remove the grille. Not too happy about having to strip so much off the front on a new car. So I'm going to try to remove the grilles without removing the bumper.

Anyone done this?

Here the link below for removing of the fog grilles:

FR power, are your DRLS, wired to your sidelights, or do they come on totaly independently,
also do you have a guide on how to do it?

They are wired independently from the sidelights. They come on when the ignition comes on and i can turn them off or dim them down with a wireless remote. Nah sorry don't have a guide, took awhile with alot of research and different types of DRLs.

ah cool, cause it always looks crap when people have them wired into sidelights cause the back ones and numberplate lights etc are on.

can i ask where you got them from? i found a guid on a golf forum on how to fit them i think, and i guess since its VAG it be the same :D

Yeah they do but the new DS3 can either have DRLs only or have sidelights and DRLs on at the same time.

I think must be mistaken, i don't have the LED fogs. I have these:

Pretty easy to do!

My DRLs aren't connected to the wiring loom for warranty reasons!

basically i bought a tap-in-fuse which connects into the fusebox! You find the fuse which goes on at ignition i.e. cigarette lighter. £8 on ebay

you run the cable through the firewall

bought a LED dim switch, this connects the power to DRLs and has the features of turning off and on and dimming from a wireless remote. £10 on ebay

you can use any DRLs at this point. I went through 3 DRLs! wasn't happy with the 3 because they weren't legal.

so i bought RING Cruise-lite Ice Daylight Running, these were legal. £20 on ebay

Had to take the fog grills out and bolt the DRLs straight on.

Tap-In-Fuse ----> Firewall -----> LED switch ----> DRLS

You would need 6 cables

Yeah u can get them in Halfords. Umm they are pretty close to the bumper bit because DRLs have a pivot mounting bracket so you would need to attach the bracket outside the fogs near the edge.

Hi FR_Power
I now have my DRLs fitted into the grilles, that you for your assistance, How did you route the cable through the bulkhead to the fuse box? Did you use an existing grommet, or did you drill a new hole? Does the grille surrounding the wiper assembly need to be removed?

I intend to use the "add a circuit piggy back fuse holder" similar to yours, but I cannot identify the cigarette lighter fuse, the fuse box is not numbered and there are two sizes of fuse!
