My turbo went lol. Mine was an early one so that's why. Depends what turbo number you have aswell. Only a set bunch are weaknesses

Mine is an early one and has been fine.

its pot luck and also affected by how you drive the car, let it warm up and cool down properly.

Mine is a 2014 one and driven hard and no probs either, but like AJB says above, let it warm up first and cool down before turning off.

21k miles in mine and all fine. Mines an oct 14 64 plate so may be post the problems.

It gets driven in an, ahem, spirited manner too but I always warm it up and let it cool down and keep an eye on the oil level (it has used virtually none, but keep an eye nonetheless).

Can't help but think that the number of problems on the Golf R forum relates to how many of them are on lease and how those cars get looked after. Not pointing fingers at all lease owners you understand, but a few friends don't exactly look after their cars!

Previous 280 ( picked up December 14) did 27k with no turbo issues. Chopped in last month.

I'll ask the dealer about an extended warranty. Don't fancy it going pop just after my year warranty runs out.

Mine blew due to being mapped to aggressively, it was on the peak boost and was boost leaking anyway due to a loose pipe. Mine was just unlucky, 265s have no history of them going pop you are fine. But if yours does. Stage 3 is defo worth it ;)

Nope I had to stump up, so went all the way, cost me 4K I total. With everything all in, tuning, intercooler, turbo, and fitting. And a dsg map

I won't be mapping this year due to warranty. In a strange way I hope it goes this year to ensure I get the updated turbo which will last me longer.

Not all turbos went, it's only a select few that have the weakness. It's all in the part numbers, google it and it's on there which part numbers are the ones that fail and then check yours

Standard I haven't heard them going, only if mapping occurs through a crap mapper, or an aggressive map. Like mine, haven't heard many Leon's going anyway you have nothing to worry about

I have the weak part number but has been good for 2+ years
