Hi looking some advice as title states I have a Leon st front wheel drive with 94000 miles just bought a month or so ago it’s got full history and also had new clutch fitted last year I was thing of getting it remapped but not sure whether I should maybe get the timing chain replaced first or possibly the other components like tensioner etc first time owning a car with a chain so not sure what all the components are if anyone has any advice would appreciate it as would love to have some more power but don’t want to put any stress on the chain before I get the necessary maintenance done first

Seat vw say the chain is for life, but it can and does stretch. Cost to change your looking at 1000 pound. In my opinion its not worth remaping a car with that mileage, unless you have money for clutch, turbo and timing chain because it is high mileage and component do degrade over time and a remap at that point would accelerate the problems. Not trying to put you off, as i have remapped every car ive had so. Upto you, ?

A timing chain is something that is 'supposed' to be designed for the life of the car. As such, if it isn't showing any signs of wear or problems, just leave it alone.

If the car has just had a new clutch, I would say go for the remap, but only from a reputable company, like Revo. Unless you are booting the car round all the time, I can't see a remap inducing any new problems.

You could worry about what could go wrong all the time, then we would never buy or do anything. Get the remap, enjoy, and if any problems arise afterwards, deal with them as and when they occur.

Thanks guys I’ve been informed the car originally had a tuning box and a lot of other bits fitted but it was put back to standard also it’s had a stage 2 clutch fitted so at least that part is covered
