2019 Cupra 290 Wheel Change

I am thinking of changing my wheels from 19 x 8's to 19 x 8.5's (reason is that previous owner did not look after the wheels and they need a refurb). My wheels are fitted with 235/35/19 tyres which I believe will fit on the slightly wider wheels.

Q. Do I need to fit any spacers or will the wider wheel fit with no rubbing on brakes, arches etc?

Hi welcome to the site. You’d need to check your current alloys to see what offset they are and they what offset your new alloys are to see if you need spacers. Not a clue if they’ll hit your brakes as all makes of wheels are different offset and sizes etc.

Your existing 235 section tyres will be fine on 8.5J wheels. They may provide less protection to the rim of your new alloys from kerbing, raised or dropped drain covers and potholes though, because of the extra 0.5 inch width.

As @300bhpdaily has said, offset - in addition to width - is an important factor when considering changing from one set of alloys to another. If you use the calculator on www.willtheyfit.com and input the spec of your existing and new wheel / tyre set up, it’ll calculate any (important) changes in clearance.
