Well, this pinged like a microwave today….

Car is 3yrs old Aug/22.
DSG V2
15,500MILES
Driven like Ms Daisy
Car purchased from Cupra dealership June 2024 with 2yr additional warranty to 2026.

1. Maximum Engine speed 3000rpm
2. Error: Drive System. Please visit workshop
3. Oil Sensor Faulty
4. Stop Start not working

Car was serviced mid August this Year (2weeks ago) by Cupra Oldham who undertook oil change and infotainment update (ver1988 / smaller icons).

Took car back to them today to be told DIAGNOSTIC CHECK to be done - earliest October!

Courtesy car can only be given when it goes in - so what happens now? Do I drive it with all these fault codes / do without and have no car?

Then was advised they would plug it in - found approx 14x other fault codes.
Advised as this is a ‘wiring issue’ unlikely be covered under warranty?

How can that be? I get tyres brakes etc wear n tear but the absolute core of a car especially Formentor is the electrics.

Logged a complain with Cupra uk however not convinced anything will be done.

Advised there will be £180 diagnostic fee to be paid if it transpires it’s not a warranty issue - how can 14x error codes including the above codes NOT be warranty?

Anyone else had this?

Unfortunately, wiring is not covered under extended warranty plans offered through VWFS or Opteven. It's on their list of exclusions in the policy handbook.

Not ideal at all, but often not explained when the plan is applied to a vehicle.

Going to buy a Costco size tub of Vaseline in readiness then.

Now have to debate still using the car to drive to work with all these errors.

Car will be sold as soon as this is sorted.

Well the Formentors do show a lot of errors on VCDS type of scans which was reported way back when they first came out. Previous platforms you only get a few. Dealers dont seem to clear them now, so they build up. On my Ateca, look at them and clear them. You get to know what they are, least on the Ateca eg. Rain covering front assist etc. Bus errors, door open. Formentor so many more, more interesting. Dealers also dont clear the errors after creating them during service. Part of the anarchy that came in with the MQB EVO platform, they dont bother to clear them down on the non MQB Evo platforms.

On using the car with errors on the Ateca has a colour coding system on the display screen on whether you can still drive it. Check the manual. Others probably know on here.

You could always be a devil and try clearing them yourself if you have a device and see whether they dont return. Obdeleven, you get number of times, when it appeared etc.

If it wasn’t under warranty I would probably oBD11 it but it’s just a farce if they try and say wear and tear on wires!

Got 10days before I send it in for the diagnostics. Will post up the result when it comes, if it doesn’t set fire to itself in the meantime!
