Hi, my trusty and much loved 2016 Leon FR 2.0 tdi was written off in an accident (my car was hit by two other vehicles that collided together) so I decided to buy a 2023 version of the same car, however I’m struggling to adjust to the newer car which I’ve only had for a few days. I bought it from a SEAT dealer and it’s already got an issue with the external mirrors not adjusting and this is being sorted with the dealer (I hope!).

The lack of physical buttons and knobs to adjust the temperature and radio etc cannot add to road safety can it? Also, I turned off the start/stop, Lane assist and choose driver mode/profile for my first journey only to find that next time I started the car all these settings had reverted back! Is there any way my preferred settings can be saved once and for all?

Also, what is the ‘max privacy’ setting option all about and what would other forum users suggest or recommend?

I’ve stored my favourite Radio Stations on the infotainment but how can I get my right hand ‘Speedo’ binnacle to show just my ‘favourite’ radio stations rather than the whole list of radio stations as it currently does?

How do other people access their favourite stations once on the move?

I’ve downloaded the 406 page manual and I’m trying to make head and tail of the relevant sections but I’d be grateful for any advice or thoughts from owners who migrated from the analogue MK3 to the MK4.

I rarely post here but read often, I’m based near Norwich and would appreciate any help or advice to help adjust to this 2023 model.
Many thanks!

Welcome to the wonderful world of modern Volkswagen design, horrible isn't it? Having to take your eyes off the road to do the simplest thing, or be distracted by an arguement with the voice control. If it's any comfort then Seat gave us more buttons than golf drivers got.

Assuming your car has the latest software updates and you've logging in with the app then your profile and mode should stick, but the assist options will always revert back so I've learned to ignore them rather than get annoyed.

Max privacy means you have likely not logged in, you are a guest driver until you put your user name and pin in the car.

On the radio then you have to choose to view only favourites in the centre screen media radio app, then your right hand steering wheel buttons will switch between them.

Just because of this, I decidedly stuck with the old school interior design and bought a brand-new Cupra Ateca last year, while I had the opportunity to buy a newer generation model like Leon, Formentor or Terramar. Everything is in place in the Ateca, nothing changed just for the sake of change.

Thanks for taking the time to reply, I was told by the SEAT dealer that my car had the 1989 update but I’ve no idea how to check this or even how to sign in to the car or App yet! I spent about 30 mins yesterday sitting fumbling about with the settings and then I got a warning saying the 12V battery was low and was shutting the systems down to preserve its power! What on earth is that all about??

I will try the radio favourite settings today. Can you advise what the different visibility settings are all about as you say I’m on Max privacy but despite having the manual I’m not aware of how I go about changing or even whether I should? Is it something most other drivers do amend? Anyway thanks again…

You need to download the Cupra app create a profile and assign it your car, then change user on the car to your new profile.

The infotainment update to 1989 doesn't mean a lot, there are many other modules which need individual updates, no dealer will update them unless paid or a warranty repair but this is where most bugs lie.

Your 12v issue could be a fault, go back to the dealer and insist on a warranty repair - likely a new battery but could be much worse.

Thank you again for replying, I’ll see how I get on with the App! How I wish my MK3 hadn’t been written off…
