Lad on the uk-mkivs.net site bought one and cracked it open for research and it was a resistor inside a chunk of resin which fools the ecu into thinking the temperature is different to it actually is, and the car injects more fuel to compensate. Also it messes up the mpg reading as the display vastly overread to what they worked out the car actually did on the miles to a tank method. Avoid at all costs!!
