2nd gear crunch

hi to every one,
my leon cupra has developed a fault,
when changing up the box theres sometimes a little crunch, but when changing down
from 3rd to 2ndit crunches really bad and doesnt want to go into 2nd.
i pressume this is seriouse,
any ideas??

Try checking the gearbox oil level first. i would change the oil personally.

if it still happens then its serious probably something internal going in the gearbox.

2nd gear syncro gon m8 o and thats the selcter fork in the gearbox

i was afraid that might be the problem.
ive changed the oil and there was no diffrence.
it looks like a gearbox out job then

yea it is the box out and stripped

Mine is slowly going the same way lack of cash means i'm gonna have to do this myself, surley it's a matter of taking the unit off that is bolted under the linkage or is that just wishful thinking

had it done last week at a cost of £300
i didnt think that was to bad and it was done by a specialist

split and new 2nd gear mesh (cogs)
specialist tools needed

This is what was wrong with mine when i first bought my car, got someone who fixed it for £180 but i had to take the gearbox out myself. Im guessing it would cost a lot more than this at a garage. unlucky for you mate.

I'm quickly loosing faith in VAG motors with the amount of probs iv had. Total money pit. We should be talking about all the nice mods we are buying and not being happy that we have only spent x amount this month on repairs
