3 beeps...

hello! When i was driving the other day I set off from traffic lights and my car beeped 3 times (like when the petrol light comes on) and I got a warning light on the dash (red background exclamation mark). any idea what it was?? has never done it before and hasn't done it since. I'd only been in the car 5 mins, wasn't hot etc.
any ideas?

check ure manuel mate sounds like oil level. Check ure oil and top up. If not do a search will tell you what it is

I thought there was a seperate oil level light?

yeh that is it i think i cant really rember it might be brake fluid though. check ure manuel will tell you in there.

yeah its telling you your brake fluid is low usually means your pads are getting low too

Don't think these cars are posh enough for brake pad sensors! I think it may be coolant level? Seem to remember mine doing this some months ago.

Yeh coolent level is the light on the water temp guage but that does bleep 3 times aswell.

break fluid low and pads are low as the fluid dropps as the pads get lower so the piston has to move further back and for

Wrong in a few ways.

We dont have an oil level sensor, and if it was to beep at you for an oil problem then it would be for oil pressure.

3 beeps and exclamation mark = brake fluid

3 beeps and red flashing lights on coolant temp = low coolant.
