Just out of interest, how much does it cost to take a petrol engine to above 300BHP?

I should say I'm talking about the 1.8t engines rather than the costs involved in taking a 1.2 engine to 300! :D

intercooler is about £600
Turbo back exhaust about £1000
DV - £100
CAI - about £100
Remap - £500 ish.
New turbo about £1200 ish.

Hmm, maybe some other internal stuff, conrods and stuff may be required, plus uprated hoses / pipes, injectors, spark plugs, bigger brakes, discs / pads, decent rubber on your wheels. it all mounts up, then you have labour if you're not going to do it yourself.

So i reckon you could be looking at about £4-5k.

im looking into doing it at the moment... and i guesstimated that for my leon, its going to cost about £1500-£2000 for the parts, and id get a mate to fit.

Thats getting the engine bits, a turbo, clutch/flywheel and an FMIC... maybe a remap not sure if that would be extra, depends on what i buy :cartman:

that should see me breach 300bhp maybe up to 350bhp.

thats just rough though and i have some of the starting bits already.

would have to diasagree with some of those prices

you ideally need a k04 hybrid to hit 300 mark

intercooler kit if you willing to do it your self can cost £80 core (toyosport) and anopther 100 for piping and silicone

turbo back from exhaust specialist by mine will cost 500-600 max

open cone jetex filter rated to 400bhp is £50

remap from is between 350-650 depend swhere u go

turbo centre uk will do hybrid k04 for £750

Agree with Seat Cupra Mad - but then also need to cost in the engine internals, piston rings, Con rods, injectors etc.

My 300 bhp challenge starts after this wknd at Combe, gona chat to Badger 5 and Forge about my internals and decide which K04 hybrid to use. everything else I have in place anyways.

:D

Well done that man! Shows how little i know. That's actually pretty cheap, and this is all new stuff? no refurbished kit?

yep all new.

i valued that stuff like you when i looked at first, but now im in the "know" i've realised that big power gains dont cost all that much :D

Thanks for the info, I wasn't looking for any specific number just 'more than 300'. Are the engine internals compulsory for 300 or just 'nice to have'?

I'm only after engine requirements, put it this way it wouldn't be a SEAT that would be hosting that 300 BHP!

Piston rings needed? Mmm not too sure on that. Maybe nothing internally will need doing if you turn the torque down. Wild willy on here is runnin a hybrid with 308bhp because he tapered it down a little because he is on standard internals. But idealy you could do with rods. How many miles has your car done? Because it myt be worth you doin the rings as ther not tht dear to replace

will wait for Cupramad as i dont have it, i have a milltek one mine... but exhausts arent theat expensive these days, its just milltek robbing ya! lol

Ha, very true, blueflame would've been my first choice but I’m still undecided on what make, mostly persuaded by price.
