312 mm set up - what pads?

Can anyone suggest me a decent set of pads (sub £50 ideally) for this setup. I'm not buying DS2500's as, if I was spending that, I'd buy some Pagid blues.

I'm wondering whether I'm just as well getting some OEM ones from GSF but obviously your opinion is appreciated.

Also, suggestions as to where to get them from would be good as well please.

Thanks.

why would you buy pagid blues over ds2500s??

sub 50quid arent going to be decent pads, id stick to oem pagid or jjurid from gsf if you dont want to upgrade.

I am not going to buy either DS2500's or Pagid Blues. However, between the two there is no comparison.

I used both on my clio 16v (I tracked it, I'm not just your average chav ;) ) and with brembo high carbon discs they were brilliant, never faded once and well worth the £120 odd I paid for them.

Sub £50 I've read, from Badger5 that the Pagid fast road pads are excellent. I have already got an upgrade with the 312 mm so perhaps that is the sensible way to go. GSF maybe?

Yeah sorry, didn't want to seem a smart ass, just did some research on another forum shortly after posting this thread.

Still interested to here users' comments though?

Do these look like the correct pads from GSF?

Doing this conversion tomorrow managed to get Delphi pads for £26 don't know how good these are but along with the discs at £81 for the pair. At £107 for 312mm discs and pads is cheaper than a set of DS2500 s on there own

Can I ask where you got the carriers and for how much also please? Looking at doing this in the near future....

Don't you need different carriers when using 312mm discs? I thought ours already had 288mm discs on them? The calipers are the same between the two sizes of disc setup aren't they?

I ended up buying a complete front TT brake set up from MHILL on here with new disks and pads after his car got stolen. I don't know what car you have but would assume a PD150. If that's the case the carriers and disks are all you need and they fit straight on. The calipers are the same as TT/S3/Cupra (petrol) etc. The only tricky bit was getting the pistons pushed back into the caliper.

I used Greenstuff pads on mine. They were OK to start with, but have started getting a bit noisy now at slow speeds (ie sub 20mph in car parks and the like). They are pretty good though and seem to suit the car fairly well for "not-so-expensive" pads. I haven't tracked it though so maybe others on here could give a view.

Yeah you do need different carriers the guy supplies the carriers too, thats why they are such a bargain, he'll supply the calipers to either bolt on to an original 312mm set up or supply the correct carriers to upgrade to the 312mm setup from an original 288mm

I had pagid blues on my 312mm setup - it literally ate the paintwork. worked great though.

Just get DS2500's - they'll kick the **** out of cheapo delphi or OEM pads & work great.

For those interested, I bought Mintex Xtremes in the end for £50.

DS2500's were just too expensive for me for what I want. I'll get a mild increase in stopping power from the 312 discs anyway, so no need to go overboard on what is supposed to be a cheap 'oem' upgrade. As I say, if I was spending that, I'd buy better discs and Pagid Blues given my experience with them to date.
