Hi,

Did a lot of reading on SeatCupra, and found some useful information here

I finally can post images, so here is my build thread :)
Live in the Netherlands, so sorry for my bad English :p

It’s a 2001 Leon Cupra 20VT, which I bought bone stock.

DSCF3949.jpg

My goal that time was to make around 300Bhp and give it a better look.
So thm modding begun.

Fitted A cold air intake, removed the N112 + N249, also the secondary air injection had to go.
Bought a Cupra Body, and fitted it.

DSCF4431.jpg

Next up were some wheels.
They are interaction don’t know the type, but I liked them.

Next up I mounted a Fmic, 3’’ downpipe, milltek catback some facelift mirrors, white Cupra (R) dash (the clocks don’t know the English word :p )
Also Fitted some dual projector headlights with H7 Xenon low beam, and H1 Xenon high beam.

Engine looked like this at that time:

Ordered a JBS04 for the 300BHP ;) When it came in it was fitting time!
Also placed Cupra R BAM injectors, and a 4 bar FPR. First time it got mapped, the car was running to lean. So fitted a 4 bar S3 fuelpump.

Made this result:
GroteFoto-4YSZGQXQ.jpg

Was quite happy with the results, it was a unknown turbo by that time, so quite a relief it made 293bhp and a load of torque

In my opinion, the engine was ready, and I was able to focus on the interior exterior, suspension, brakes ect.
Someone offered a Cupra R bumper, so picked it up, and fitted.
I was also a fan of the black rims with red rim ribbon, used it on the mirrors to.

As you can see its lowered here, bought a 200 euro coilover kit just for lowering. Didn’t expect much of it, but it was quite good for the money.
Had in mind to trade it in for a better kit when I could find a good one for less money. Already fitted full powerflex front and rear. Don’t have any pics of that..

Originally the car didn’t have climatronic, it had manual AC.
So bought all the things needed for the clima, and started building:

Dash out:
GroteFoto-FOLFBDHO.jpg

Don’t know the english word, but took the manual unit out
GroteFoto-MTPU84PB.jpg

GroteFoto-YSDLSIWO.jpg

Connected al the wires, fitted the unit, and tested:
GroteFoto-6F8GPDND.jpg

It worked yesss :D

New dash in (old one was scratched)
GroteFoto-XC78ZE3A.jpg

And done :D

GroteFoto-8GYVJRFP.jpg

So some big events started in the Netherlands, so decided to go for a new look.
Removed all the striping.
GroteFoto-QZKDM46B.jpg

GroteFoto-MALU3FBZ.jpg

Much better :D

Disaster stroke, as the clutch began to fail (made 200.000km’s with it). And my 2nd dualmass started to fail..
So ordered a spec single mass 7,2KG flywheel.
GroteFoto-VJQC7UGT.jpg

My tuner told me I could use a stock clutch, and sachs would be the best choice, so also bought a sachs clutch.
GroteFoto-WCCVQ7HE.jpg

Also needed 4 new tires, so 4x Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 2 225/40R18
Foto-NLD3EY7U.jpg

Ow almost forgot, redesigned the Intercooler tubing,
GroteFoto-NDPX3LWE.jpg

And fitted a bigger intercooler could get it for free, and always thought the 1st one I had was too small. (it is one from a EVO 4)

Fitting the clutch:
Removed Gearbox

New flywheel + Clutch:
GroteFoto-DK4ZO4W7.jpg

Wow.. that is some awesome sh*t!
It feels much more quicker after the lighter flywheel. Much more direct.
Happy!

Then I came across a KW Variante 2 Inox Coilover kit, brand new, for half the price.
So decided to pick it up.

And fitted:
GroteFoto-Y8XMD38Q.jpg

Woah! What a big difference! It is so drivable now! Didn’t expect so much of a change, but very happy I fitted the kit!

Yesterday they had a Dyno meeting at my tuner, and a guy who worked there had some brakes he wanted to sell. So I thought it would be wise to fit those :p
they are brembo’s almost the same fitted on a stock Cupra R 323mm disks, and braided hoses.
GroteFoto-IKOYOTTO.jpg

Picking them up next week.

Had seen a lot of positive figures that day (and some bad ones), and I hadn’t planned to go for it myself, but I couldn’t resist..
I couldn’t believe my eyes when I saw the result.

GroteFoto-X4AN3KI4.jpg

Sooo awesome :D
Expected around 300Bhp with the new mods. (also fitted a Walbro inline 255/Lh after 2 months because after a while the S3 pump started to lack pressure)
I use 95 octane, mixed with 7L 96+% bio-ethanol

Took me quite a while typing the whole story, hope you like it ;)

Specs of the car:

Leon Cupra 1.8T 232.000Km’s
Evo 4 FMIC
Apexi Cold air intake
Forge Turbo intake hose
Bosch TT 380CC injectors + 4Bar FPR
JBS04 turbo
3’’ downpipe with milltek
KW Variant 2 Coilover
Full Powerflex
Walbro 255/Lh inline fuel pump
N112+N249 removal
Spec Flywheel + Sachs clutch

Must be forgotten something :D
But it drives awesome now!

No wheelspin in 2nd gear. tires are great!

wow thats a huge post! :) also quite a lot of work you've done there..!
while reading i kept imagining this car with a black roof..! :)
Oh, and could do with spacers.

Haha, I am considering spacers for the rear.
Working for 4 years on the car now :)
I also thought about a black roof and spoiler.
Still need to get some money from my insurance so wanted to go for a repair, Cupra R rear bumper, and black high gloss front grills.
Maybe a black roof too

Hi great build loads of work....i do have one question though and that is, why not buy a cupra r in the first place to save time and money?? Or are they hard to get over there?

Thnx all :)

A cupra R was switching owners for around 16.000 euro's that time
this cupra i bought cost me around 8000 euro 4 years ago ;)
So 8000 for modding haha. (didn't spend 8000 on modding tho)

It is faster now, better handling, and I like working on it.

I'm a VW mechanic myself, so can do anything, anytime.

And the weight, here in holland my sport (1222Kg) is less expensive than the 1320KG Cupra R.
in a month, it costs less than a cupra R (tax, insurance, ect)

Ah, brakes are here!

Paint is a little messed up. but after a clean they will look better.
After next week i will spray them blue. R32 Caliper blue.
on one caliper the paint got damaged in the box while transporting

This moring i moved the car out of the workshop, and it was leaking coolant..
waterpump broke down :(
well, now my whole schedule for saturday is messed up.. but better that it happens now, than next week at the dragstrip.

Well, the rims won't fit over the brakes.
i need wheelspacers, 12mm thickness. minimal.
im hoping i can get them before saturday, but i don't think i will make it.

so now i need 12-13mm in the front and 20mm in the rear..

@ kevin, yes, the jbs04 is a K03 hybrid. my tuner says the newer revisions of the JBS04 are not as good as the 1st one. I own a 1st rev. they say that the exhaust cant get the gasses out fast enough, so they only make 280-290bhp now. maybe there are newer versions out now, i don't know. JBS doesnt respond to anny emails..

nope, still stock rods.

but it is fine for 3 years now.
mate of mine ran an ibiza cupra with 460Nm on stock rods.

no detonation and a good mapping make the differance ;)
