Hi all,

I'm going to attempt to design and 3d print myself a phone holder. A mini project, something similar to a brodit. I'm not a fan of the air vent mounts and the phone uses wireless charging so magnets aren't possible.

If anyone already has a working design already made and would like to share can you let me know

Cheers.

Not a phone holder, as no need to see my phone whilst driving. I have a wireless charging panel I designed and had made by @Tony Thurston of AT Designs.

Just realised I've not updated my build thread with my updated design, as I didn't want to have to use the rubber mat to stop the phone sliding out of position:

This is my first version:

So..... First prototype is up.

What I like is it still allows air vent use with it attached (all orientations).

Needs the sides rounding and then the phone holding attachment to be slipped into the faceplate.

I'm happy with the angle.

Also only printed at .28 so a rough model, will see how it holds up then I'll print a nice one if it works.

Solidly held in place by two tiny command strips used for Xmas light hooks. No idea how these will hold up with heat/cold, hence will try before printing a nice version.

Will design a phone holder and take another pic with it mounted (should be. A quick job....)

Night time install..... Replaced the command strip sticky with some proper 3m tape used in go pro mounts.... If it keeps a go pro strapped to my helmet all year it can cope with this

This works so much better than having my phone rattling around somewhere, allows the air vent to be used and slips straight in and is secure - no grabbing mechanism.
Doesn't have in built wireless charging but I'm not going to need it, if needed it can accept the cable from the glove box.

Cost: some messing around (time/learning) about £2 total worth of plastic and some electric. Cheaper than a brodit and part justifies me getting a 3d printer
