:cry:please help took the car to get 4 wheel aligned ,front tracking was out theyve adjusted it but the steering wheel is now way off ,light coming on abs is trying to kick in when u turn they havent pulled the steering wheel to try and realign it could it be that the vehicle is having a diffrent angle off the steering wheel????please help as need o phone the garage tomorrow thanks in advance everyone

maybe they forgot to secure the stearing wheel when they did it????????????????????

They are supposed to adjust rod ends equally both sides to keep steering wheel aligned, sounds like they have just done one side :(

If the steering wheel is out of alignment then G85 (steering angle sensor) will need re calibrating.

But its best to get the steering wheel back as it should be.

thanks ill phone them tomorrow typical thanks everyone for youre help ill keep u posted

ill have you knoiw im pretty ggod at traking ;) but my best mates betta so i get him to do it FOR FREE :)

the biggest independant garage in north wales hes an ex seat mastertech cant do it till wednesday thats a load of bo**cks i personally think the track is way of as one wheel looks toe in and the other toe out hes proper droped a clanger ,cant drive the car even little saxos will be passing me gggrrrrrrrrrr!!!

Just took my car to get 4 new tyres and 4 wheel alignment at hi-q. Drove off and noticed the steering wheel was out of line. Now the traction control light keeps on coming on. Annoying thing is that they shut as I left.

I take it I should take it back and get them to sort it out? Is it an easy thing for them to do?

It is very easy to do assuming they can get the track rod bolts to move. I reckon they did the end of the day lazy ass thing and simply did one side only. What they have done is potentially dangerous in my view and I'd be speaking directly with the branch manager rather than the pleb that did the work and asking him how his "experts" couldn't do a simple task correctly. This is their bread and butter work and the state they left your car in could mean that your safety systems will not trigger if needed.

Make sure they pay if you need to have any errors cleared from the ECU (assuming they can't do it). IIRC anything to do with airbags has to be cleared and won't just clear itself on it being corrected and if the sensor for that needs recalibrating because of them setting the wheel too far out then they need to ensure that the job is redone and the steering centred through the track rods being aligned properly and not simply removing the steering wheel.

I had this on thursday took my LCR in for tracking and it come out with the steering wheel not straight!! it annoyed the hell out of me so it went back and they sorted it. but only after using every excuse under the sun that it was the car and not the lad that done it!!!!

He didn't lock the steering wheel straight when he checked it.... idiot:doh:

just had mine done today well two new front tyres and tracking done, my front tracking was way off rears were fine, not been done since i had a new set of springs fitted

got the car back took it for a drive, and traction control light kicking in big time! was like WTF! anything over 40mph was making it kick in

took it back they put the back wheels on the front tried it again same problem :(

came back swaped them back round again, car went back in to get tracking rechecked for the 2nd time, the previous guy who had just done the tracking based it on having the steering wheel with the Seat logo being straight which of course means even though it looks straight the steering is still slightly out, so it had to be all redone, found it was out, also noticed at the same time a sticky rear calliper on the rear/handbrake was not quite off so they adjusted that and wella car is fixed! thats 8hrs at a protyre garage today

they also got one of the guys to plug a laptop in at lunch looking for faults nothing found yay

although the oxygen sensor is giving a funny reading so that needs to be changed but the maf was fine

such a stressful day

sounds like quite a common problem then. so its just the steering angle sensor that is sensing an issue and kicking in the traction control? i hope by putting it back it wont still be out like RS6 then otherwise it sounds like a right pain in the arse.

right, update on where i am. Took it back to the garage to get fixed, they had it for about an hour but say they cant fix it. said that the alignment wont fit correctly without the steering wheel being out of line. He's offered me my money back so i dont think he's just trying to have me on. said the only thing he can think is that it's been in a smash and recommended i take it somewhere with a jig to check up on it. very annoyed as u can probably imagine. any one got any advice on this?

Cheers

cheers Lee, gave them a bell and have it booked in with Demon Tweaks who reckon they'll be able to sort it.
