580 miles without filling up...

Went away last weekend, SE London to Colchester to see my Mum, then up to Kings lynn, Skegness, then along the Norfolk coast to Hunstanton, down to Norwich, across to Great Yarmouth and Lowerstoft then home.... Having filled up at Lakeside Tesco on the way out the fuel warning ping went just as I came up to the Dartford toll on the way back with the trip computer showing 542 miles. I know I usually have at least 40 miles left at this point so that makes 580 for the tank :)

Best I had was 53mpg on the 40 miles trip from Kings Lynn to Skegness.

Mostly A roads and a few B roads and before you ask no I don't drive like an old man, in fact far from it :p

think the most ive had out of my car is just over the 500. Thats doing every mile at a very moderate pace though, so looks like you're doing extra well there...

get approx 370 here on a 1.6 stylance.......although the drop in petrol prices has reduced filling up from £57 to £43

Totally agree, I get 290 miles from a tank but with a revo'd cupra it's smiles per gallon that count and every mile has had a smile this week:p

If you think its no fun driving a Diesel FR then you are so wrong, it certainly isnt a bluemotion 15 seconds to 60 mobile!

I agree a Cupra would be more fun, but I couldn't justify the cost

Anyway I had more than enough fun on my trip, got stuck behind the odd lorry on the single lane A roads but plenty of overtaking to make up for it!

Have you recently had a service or oil change?

I had never had more than 450 miles from a tank (that was on about 52L) but on the seccond tank of fuel after the cars 1st service i was putting 50.xL of fuel into it with 490 miles on the clock. This was mostly a 400 miles round trip with just me and no extra people or junk in the car cruising at 80mph/75mph real speed.

Had i used the last 5L i would have got 540 miles till it was empty. That was mostly the same trip as above at the same speed with just me and perhaps 50kG of stuff in the boot.

I can only put that big jump down to the service as my driving style was pretty much the same as always where full throttle is used where possible :)

Most trips I avg 37-41MPG...even around town, but long journeys that jumps to about 48MPG if behaving....back to 43 if not . most I've ever ever had was 56MPG driving back from Wales once. As a test I did everything by the book...tickling accelerator, drafting lorries, the works. But that was a one off, impossible to do that when the power is so more-ish :D

I consistently get about 480-500 miles out of a tank, and that's filling up when the computer saying there is about 10 miles left. however, I do 80% Motoroway driving at least.

The TDi FR is no Cupra...but probably the best trade off there is on the road for power/efficiency (1 series aside!).
