All I'm saying is that 6.5j is not dangerous on a sporty hatch and that's it, I think to say that it's bordering on dangerous is daft. Manufacturers only made the wheels bigger and wider for styling on these hot hatches, I mean the legal limit is only 70 at best. I fully understand that on a track the extra .5 per wheel will make a difference but not on a road car. There wasn't anything wrong with 6.5j on the older cars with regards to safety but people don't want that anymore, as I've said the manufacturers seen what people were doing to their cars with regards to styling like biggger, wider wheels, body kits, smarter bumpers etc and so they redisigned their cars to cash in on this market.
The original question was asking about fitting a set of wheels to a leon, nobody said it was even a cupra, it could be a 1.4 for all anyone knows and I think it's wrong to say stuff like bordering on dangerous to the guy. Even nissan didn't fit great big wide wheels to their cars either and if you know as much as you say you do then you should know that I'm not talking crap, how old are you exactly and how long have you been farting about with cars?
I'm not having a go at anybody either, I'm simply arguing a point and I've been in my mates VR6 at serious speed around corners with 6.5j wheels on, I was totally blown away by the handling of that thing, it's absolutly fantastic and so's his corrado. His latest car, the golf gt tdi has 6.5j on as standard too and it's not ancient, a lot of todays cars still have 6.5j wheels but they're like 16, 17 and 18 inch, wider wheels are a style thing for these cars, the companies are trying to sell to a market and nothing more.
