Do the reset with VCDS then if you have it. There is some good videos on YouTube of what to do.
Re getting Seat to do it….
I’d be very surprised if they did it ‘properly’ as the workshop manual for DQ381 doesn’t state to change the filter.
Same as Haldex serving, Seat don’t clean the gauze as it’s not in the manual.
Most VAG independents charge around ~£300 for the DQ381 iirc inc the filter and adaptations reset.
(The DQ250 is usually around £200, suspiciously like the Seat price. It uses cheaper oil and less of it, and is less messy due to not having an awkward to reach horizontal filter)
Same Independent places know
how to service the Haldex properly and only charge £100 for that, whereas Seat dealers are more expensive and don’t clean the gauze, so basically I’d be amazed if Seat serviced a DQ381 fully for £229, especially as you have found that’s nearly the cost of genuine parts alone.
In total I spent around £230 doing mine, but next time it will time it will be cheaper as I don’t need tools anymore so should be much less.
Regards service history, when it’s officially due, eg age/mileage, I will pay for a VAG specialist to do it that time who can update the service record.
Other times I’ll do it myself every 2 years like the Haldex.
