Thanks mate. As always šŸ‘

Iā€™ve read to steer clear of the one click apps. Many people have had issues.

You ever tried the DSG reset via just ignition on (not running)and foot to floor for a while? People have reported increased smoothness after doing this. Again, something Iā€™ve not tried myself yet.

Yeah Iā€™d do it manually if it was me.

That what you described is just a soft reset of some sort and did nothing perceptibly when I tried it.

note: if you donā€™t have OBD11 there is a good little app called ā€˜Car scanner proā€™ that as long as you have a decent OBD2 tool (I use a Carista with it) can also do lots of MQB workshop stuff inc DSG reset and Haldex pump learns etc etc.
Tested both and work fine.
If you donā€™t have OBD11 itā€™s worth a look for a fraction of the price.

I bought a new VCDS cable when I got the Ateca, then I learned of OBD11 and bought that too just because then I can run any checks easily whilst out and about.

I might ā€œtryā€ this soft reset still as and when I get chance just to see if I notice any differences.

Side note, how much do you reckon you spent in the end changing the DSG oil yourself? Itā€™s just I notice on Seatā€™s website they change oil and filter for Ā£229. Also, it would log against the car. First quote I got for genuine parts came to just over this. So who knows mate, Seats price doesnā€™t seem too bad.

Do the reset with VCDS then if you have it. There is some good videos on YouTube of what to do.

Re getting Seat to do itā€¦.
Iā€™d be very surprised if they did it ā€˜properlyā€™ as the workshop manual for DQ381 doesnā€™t state to change the filter.
Same as Haldex serving, Seat donā€™t clean the gauze as itā€™s not in the manual.

Most VAG independents charge around ~Ā£300 for the DQ381 iirc inc the filter and adaptations reset.
(The DQ250 is usually around Ā£200, suspiciously like the Seat price. It uses cheaper oil and less of it, and is less messy due to not having an awkward to reach horizontal filter)

Same Independent places know how to service the Haldex properly and only charge Ā£100 for that, whereas Seat dealers are more expensive and donā€™t clean the gauze, so basically Iā€™d be amazed if Seat serviced a DQ381 fully for Ā£229, especially as you have found thatā€™s nearly the cost of genuine parts alone.

In total I spent around Ā£230 doing mine, but next time it will time it will be cheaper as I donā€™t need tools anymore so should be much less.

Regards service history, when itā€™s officially due, eg age/mileage, I will pay for a VAG specialist to do it that time who can update the service record.
Other times Iā€™ll do it myself every 2 years like the Haldex.

I was going to do the dsg service myself but wanted the service history. Wish I did it myself!
Had it done last week by Seat also had the front diff fluid changed too, since having it done, in D mode there's a feeling of the car holding back when going up through the gears. Also holds onto the gears longer too.
I put it up on the ramps this afternoon just to see if it had actually been done correctly...
I was quite annoyed to see that there was no sign the filter had been changed and also the mechatronic drain plug had not been touched. No sign of oil drips any where. The front diff seems to have been done as there's two new plugs plus traces of oil on subframe.. done correctly I do not know! šŸ˜‚
I've emailed them today and I will be ringing them tomorrow morning when they open to see what they have to say.

According what i know, during oil change this idiots not changing oil filter. It's absurd. You need to tell them to do it. I have 30 kkm and start to worry about what they will do to my car in Poland. ;/

I know it's poor practice. Especially when they have charged me for the filter change to as its on the invoice! I'm sure there's no way they could of changed the filter without getting a drop on the gearbox casing as the filter is horizontal.
I'll see what they have to say tomorrow when I call them. This is the first time I've taken any vehicle to a garage to have work done! Safe to say it will be the last time! Idiots.

Ok if they charged you - big lol. I don't know how i other countries but her in Poland VAG services sucks like hell. They are designed just to drain your pocket, but if you want to do something under warranty - huuuuge problems. I think this will be my last VAG. Friend bought Formentor and have same experience plus he has constant problems with MIB3. That's why I always ask for all parts (like filters etc.) which they change also i ask to put car near the window to check what they are doing. Maybe i have paranoia but as i can see to so much. ;/

In Polish Seat they state that DQ381 need to be service ever 120 000 km, but it's highly recommended to do it every 60 000 km. Please remeber that Seat DQ381 procedure doesn't include DSG's oil filter you need to ask for it (i know - crazy).
