8,25” MEN3 infotainment change

Hi!
I have 2021. Ateca with basic “MEN3” 8,25” infotainment.
Full link is locked, at dealerahip it cost more than 300€ to unlock, and I asked few people that do coding, they say this version it is impossible to unlock, only dealership can do it.

So I thought instead of paying 300€ to unlock full link, maybe add a little more and swap this infotainment for bigger 9,2” display that already has full link unlocked.
Is this even possible?
Men3 has control unit attached to it, and bigger 9,2” display does not, so I guess I need to buy display + control unit. Is it possible to install if car didn’t came with it?
Or is there any cheaper way to unlock full link on existing infotainment?

Thank you in advance!

No idea about the cost but I know that there are people who replaced MEN3 with MOI3, so it is possible. Search on Google for "men3 to mib3 (or moi3) upgrade retrofit", not much but there are some results.

The problem is, if you were to upgrade to the mib3, you wouldn't legally get the full range of functions with a feature activation like the dealer does. Component protection is possible.

If only a dealer would accept to undertake all the hassle involved with the upgrading of the screen, infotainment unit, maybe wiring, and coding work. I never seen or heard one anywhere that even offer a quote for a job like this.

The capabilities of dealers as I know them are limited to replacing failed parts with the exact same ones. They don't want to spend time when things possibly would not work, they don't want to be responsible when something unwanted or unexpected happens. Even the agreements with the manufacturers could be binding them not to do anything other than the strictly specified work items.

They can of course offer to activate Full Link because it is offered as a service by manufacturer.

Because such actions can cost an official dealer the Seat license fees, at least here.
Only a few features were/are offered as aftersales license items, Full Link and Tiredness Recognition System are the only ones that I could remember. All other FeC-protected features come as part of a package and never supposed to be activated later by selling a license to them. Such as Performance Monitor; it was offered in some so-called sporty trims, not in the others and there wasn't any separate license offered for it.

Is it not buyer beware if you buy something without the bells and whistles then you need a retrofitter like @East Yorkshire Retrofits to sort it out now Vag have got better at stopping users from tampering. You have to see through the marketing buff when you buy it or the person who bought it secondhand to get it how you want it. Vag want their license fees paid one way or another. A decent retrofitter can help.
