Hi All

I was told by the dealer that my car used 'normal' unleaded (i had heard that all VAG FSI engines used 98 Octane) however, filling up for the first time last night i noticed that inside the filler flap it states 98 Octane with 95 in much smaller font:confused:

I actually had to use 95 as thats all the Shell station sold, and so far no ill effects, was wondering what you guys use, and whether i should top up with 98 Octane asap.

thanks

Rob

ps 50miles on the M25 and M11 today and computer showing 33.1mpg:D

it'll run, but probably with slightly worse mpg & lower power

Agreed, they put 98 octane first as that is thier recommendation... they get no more money for us using a higher octane petrol, so its recommended for a reason.

It will run on 95 Octane, but will run better on 98.

Thats all I use.... thats all I can use !!!

Mine is a flat as a fart when run on normal unleaded. 98 makes quite a difference but as Mork says all the ECU does is back off when you use crap fuel. It wont cause any problems although saying that I did have the CEL come on once when I used 95...

So we're expected to use even more expensive fuel??

In the manual it says using a higher octane fuel has no power or economy advantages which I thought was strange.

no higher than 98ron......

if you don't want to use a premium fuel in a premium engine, buy a 1.6

Lol, think its lost something in the translation. The mk1 Leon manual used to state that running 95 would result in minor power and economy losses...

I use BP Ultimate 98 ron in my TFSI. You really can tell the difference if you have to use something else like the 97 sold on some supermarket forecourts.

I've not used 95 but based on my experience with 97 I'd think it would be crap

Interesting... so if I start using unleaded 98 instead of 97 (Shell Vpower) it should be possible to tell a difference?

I live in Denmark and have already paid more than 30.000£ for my TFSI because of our funny taxes on cars... so it would definitely be worth using a few extra money on 98! :O)
