A/C Compressor

Took my Ibiza into the dealer earlier this week to get the aircon pipe replaced, which they've done fine.
But just had a phone call and been told the comressors siezed up and need replacing along with the drier The pipe replacement has already cost me £300 and the compressor/drier is going to be another £700!!!!
The dealers checking to see if he can get hold of aftermarket or reconditioned parts to bring the cost down. but i'm not holding my breath.
Does anyone know where i could get hold of the parts at a more reasonable price? had a quick search on the net and found a few places but have no idea as to quality/reliability of the sites.
or does anyone know of any specialists in the manchester area. not too bothered about travelling a little way if it'll save me money

Have a quick search on here, I posted a link to a site I used a few weeks ago, and got a new compressor for £330 deliverd. Its a denso one, which is identical to the original one fitted, but without the VW badging on it. Drier you can get from euro car parts cheaply. Ill post the link tomorow if you cant find it. Hope this helps!

I found that website (autoairconparts.co.uk) you mentioned. Was looking at that yesterday, but its hard to know which ones are any good.
I'll see what the seat man says and if he's found any cheaper parts himself.

Ordered the compressor off the net. But last one in stock was damaged so they are waiting for the order to come in, I should have it in next 7 days. The seem like a decent company so far, and eager to help which is usefull.
On the dealer front, they did try and look for cheaper parts (aftermarket/reconditioned) but the cheapest they could find was about £400 (Original£500, found for £330 with VAT).
I'll let you know what the final verdict on the web company is when everythings sorted...

I couldnt fault them when I got mine. Even phoned them with a question about fitting and they were happy to help. I could do a fitting guide if that would be helpful? (am away ATM so wont be for a week or so)
