Send Dave a eBay messgae when you have bought it and he will get you the right colour and fixings with it. (Dave is the guy who runs the parts dept. at Sere Motors and I got mine from him off that link).

Cheers buddy I'll drop him a message, Appreciate it.

My car IS a facelift, but an rcd510 plugged straight in and played USB aux and everything.
Word of warning though, there's like a raised but of plastic in the cradle for the head unit in the dash. If you bought one out ofa vw this need to be removed as the sd card slot catches and it won't sit flush. Easy, just need a dremmel or a saw blade lol
My car is a facelift though, so this is either really useful or completely irrelevant lol

Sent from iOS. Lol

Something needs sawing off the head unit or dash?

Sorry struggling to visualize what your saying haha.

When you take the standard unit out there's a bit at the bottom of the hole you have made that needs removing and also at the back. When the standard unit is out it will make perfect sense.

It's all behind the unit you choose to fit so is hidden :)

That's all it Is, I forgot I never took it out my car lol

Do you have to chop this bit out as I do not really have any need for the SD card slot, you say it doesn't fit flush how obvious is it, also would effect the replacement of the standard radio if I swap it back?

Maybe silly questions but I'm a silly kind of guy lol

Got the unit and Fascia ordered now :)

Cheers

Hi guys, this will really be of help to you.

GUIDE: Retro fitting OEM Satnav MFD2/MFD3

I am actually one of those who were left crying after I broke the SD Card/GPS card Mapping as I forced the radio in. Now, I am less GPS/SATNAV and SD CArd. You really have to get a dremmel or saw to cut that little piece of plastic out.

My radio came plug and play everything including Bluetooth, steering controls and I can even save contacts on it. Not really helpful to you guys but I ordered it on www.stopshop.co.za. You can use this as a reference though.

I don't know up there, but I paid R1300 to get my Calipers painted red in South Africa.

Notice I stole an opportunity to grab a pic next to a beast on the left, lol.

Yeah it's a necessity, it hangs out otherwise unfrotunatley. Can't see it making a difference being in or not as the original unit is single din (slim)
Honestly, you really don't need to worry its easy as hell. This is coming from someone who was worrying about taking the wing mirror caps off :)

It's not solid plastic either it's hollow just got those sides on. You could probably get it out with a bread knife if you're a rough c***t lol

Do I need to try this just to see if I am one of these sorts of people lol

Cheers mate I probably am just over thinking it, don't wanna brake anything on my new car;)

Right im also very interested in doing the headunit up grade, its not that the standard mk2 head unit is pants ( far from it ) but I just want to bring the inside upto date.

If I buy a RCD 510 ( NOT A SAT NAV ONE ) Other than the head unit what else do I need to buy in order for it to work the same as my current standard head unit.

Im ok with electrics, I can remove/add ipod adapters and what not.so is it a job for a professional?

Believe me a dremmel or a jr. hacksaw blade will make it easier. It's a tough old bugger! Same as the bit at the back of the unit as you need to remove that also!

Depends, If your cars a facelift aside from the Dremel mod it's plug and play, looks like preface lift require slight wiring alterations

My RCD 510 arrived today from Hong Kong with no customs charges :) the only other problem is that the better half has seen it and wants it for a Christmas present as I seem to be a pain in the ass to buy for...

So now I will have to buy a Triple R Splitter so I have something else to do lol

Also shout out to Dave at Seremotors :) for the Facia and clips, grand job!
