Hi all,

Recently bought myself a 2001 1.4 Ibiza Chill. Only planning on keeping it a couple of years TBH (first car), so not gonna go crazy and install a new head unit etc etc. Cupra next methinks :) Anyway...

I've got one of these http://i.expansys.com/i/b/b141919.jpg and it fits perfectly in the hole just in front of the gear stick and ashtray. I'm planning on making some kind of housing so it'll sit still and be angled so I can select tracks and not have it slide about. It looks really neat in place.

I searched a bit and got myself an FM transmitter, but to be honest it's a bit sh1t! I don't want the cassette tape adaptor and a CD changer is out of the question too, so I searched again and I got one of these: http://www.caraudiodirect.co.uk/product_info.php?products_id=77 thinking it would do the job (was suggested on a previous post). I had the HU out, removed the CD changer cable (blue iso connector) and swapped it with the Blaupunkt Cable. Reassembled everything and it's all good but no input from the MP3 player.

I disconnected everything and the clock's reset itself to 1999, but still no MP3 player sound

Is that cable not up to the job? If it is, what should I be checking now?

Thanks for your help in advance!

ML.

Thanks for the reply, much appreciated.

Sorry should have included that in my original post. I've tried headphones with the MP3 player, which works fine. I've also plugged in my oldschool Minidisc player and I'm sitting with my laptop plugged in right now as I post. Nothing coming through the stereo.

Is there some kind of calibration process that needs to be done so it will accept a signal? Am I right to assume that the aux in is selected by pressing "CD" on the top right of the HU?

I noticed it says it's compatible with most 2004 onwards Blaupunkts. This is a 2001 car. You sure this cable should work? I've noticed the CD changer cable I took out has more cables than the 2 on this one (which are L&R I assume).

I'm guessing the CD changer cable is sending data as well as audio. Therefore the stereo is looking for a 6 disc changer, which it's not finding as no data is being received?

The denison ICElink needs programming AFAIK.

The denison ICElink needs programming AFAIK.

My IceLink didn't need programming, mind you there are a lot more wires connected to the blus ISO block than the two on the lead you have.

Although its a separate product, i had the same problem initially. I connected up my iPod and plugged it into the CD socket on the back of the HU and although my iPod was on, no sound was coming through the stereo.

It turns out i needed to earth my cable (there was an earth cable attached to the kit) which i did by attaching it to the car, works a treat now.

It might well be something along those lines

Cheers fellas.

@ truCido: As far as I know the standard HU only has one aux in, so the pink lead wouldn't work would it? Can anyone confirm?

@ Big_Lad: Cheers. Definitely no earth cable that I can see though, so I guess that rules that one out...

Would it be worth me taking some pics? Kinda hoping someone on here has used this cable before! Will try to find the original post where someone recommended it in the meantime. Got this week off work so would be cool to get it up and running and fitted ASAP :)

Cheers.

You wouldn't happen to know where it is would you? I've not managed to find the thread yet...

Bugger. Cheers for looking ;)

Can anyone else help? Even if it's just a "no you stupid bloody idiot, of course that cable won't work".

Cheers!

im gonna go buy one and have a play I think lol because theres no reason why it shouldnt work!! This diagram isnt specifically for the Ibiza but it should be the same...

I also found this teeeeeny weeeny comment on a website

These leads are intended for use with better-specified Blaupunkt 'aftermarket' radios, and are not suitable for use with most Blaupunkt navigation systems or factory-fitted radios, including VW Beta / Gamma / Chorus models. They will plug in, but not be recognised by the radio.

*goes and hides in corner*

@ Big_Lad: Nah. The tape player doesn't connect to the back. Thanks for the suggestion though.

Thanks for the pics of the stubby aerial on the other thread BTW. I ordered one. The S2000 one is nice, but the overhang bugs me every time I look at it on mine!

@ truCido: Looking at that wiring diagram, I'm 99% sure the Blaupunkt Aux-In cable isn't gonna work (no data cables etc). Damn this shoddy head unit! Cheers for looking though mate.

BTW, what is the name of the HU for future reference? Cheers.

Dunno if this helps at all because I just skipped through the thread and saw that you needed a diagram for the back of the HU.

So here is one I used to find out what cable did each speaker for my AUX in/out for my AMP.

The more I think about what you need this for the more useless I think it is but there you have it.
