I have a 2017 1.4 tsi eco act fr 150 spoke to a local tuning company about a remap and he said he won't touch it this is the message he sent

They’re absolutely horrifically unreliable.

Piston rings crack, timing tensioners fail, valves crack, they absolutely drink oil, the turbo wastegates on them fail and rattle quite regularly.

It’s not worth putting our name to one unfortunately as for the sake of a £250 remap if we map a poorly designed engine with documented reliability concerns and then a year down the line it blows up the finger gets pointed straight at us rather than the fundamental reliability issues that the engine has mechanically which aren’t related to what software is running it.

Is this true cheers in advance peeps

That's wat I said and he said all small tsi engines are really unreliable. I haven't heard out bad about the newer tsi engines at all so thought I would ask on here

Some of the guys over in the Skoda forum have been doing things to the 1.2TSI 16V engines, including hybrid turbos. Obviously there are no 1.4TSI 16V Fabias so I can't comment about them.
