I have ABS, TCS and Handbrake light on.....which has just failed the MOT....I have had a diagnostic reading with the following fault codes

01316 ABS Control Module
01316-049 Instrument Cluster

the garage seem to think I need a new cluster but wasnt sure?!....but recommend taking to Seat first...which will charge me another £60 for a reading....

I need to get those lights off for the MOT!! any ideas?....before i have to send it seat:cry:

To quote the Ross-Tech Wiki.

01316 - ABS Control Module: No Signal/Communication
Possible Causes

* Wiring/Connector(s) from/to ABS Control Module faulty
* Fault(s) stored in ABS Control Module

Possible Solutions

* Check Wiring/Connector(s) from/to ABS Control Module
* Check Measuring Value Blocks (MVB)
o Usually Measuring Value Blocks (MVB) 125+ show the current Communication Status

Personally I think the need for a new cluster might be over the top. Is this a VAG garage?

im not sure my husband took it....the garage said there were some things he couldnt get into but obvioulsly SEAT could....said he could only go so far....not sure what he means by this..

He was probably trying to access control modules that dont actually exist.

On this occasion you probably are best off taking it to seat.

i had the same problem with my ABS and TCS coming on and going off randomly, both at the same time. I took it to a local garage for a test and they said the module was faulty and that i would need a new abs system which would cost around £1200. I left it for a while to see what happened and both lights have stayed off. I later found out that it was the Wiring/Connector(s) from/to ABS Control Module that were loose and just need re fixing. I dont know if any of this helps but ask the garage to check the wiring as ive had a few problem with wiring on mine.

i've had the same problem for a while. does anybody know where the ABS module is and what it looks like so i can check the wiring.
