In my (albeit very limited) experience a refurb on average per wheel will range from about £45 for a 17" wheel upto about £70 for a 19" wheel

These were just quotes I had when phoning places to get a wheel done on my old car (couple of years back, can't imagine it's much more now).

It didn't matter how much kerb damage there was, the price was purely based on the size of the wheel, if it had a single scratch or whether it was covered in scratches was irrelevant.

Completely depends on where you go and the process involved though.

A lot of places just acid dip, sand blast and powdercoat. Others will hand finish them first to make sure they are straight, flat spots removed, cracks welded etc.

Most places won't vary the cost based on severity. They do tend to vary the cost based upon complexity of their process, wheel size and choice of colour though.

Severity of the damage should dictate where you go though along with quality of finish and price.

Mobile guy did mine and he did a great job too, from memory it cost me £45 I think, I went to a bunch of other places for quotes and they couldn't match the colour or needed to have the wheel for days which wasn't an option.

I'd certainly never pay the prices you mentioned earlier in the thread though, for a refurb that is crazy money.

There are loads of places that will do a great job for half the price.

All down to personal choice and opinion of course. Some people wouldn't dare spend £100 on a pair of headphones, others wouldn't settle for £5 ones. Pure personal choice.

While I appreciate what you're saying that it's a choice I'm not sure the comparison is the best ;)

I don't think anyone would have been able to tell the difference between the £45 job I had and someone who had paid £150, some people just think their time is worth more than others.

My wheel looked completely factory after is was finished, I knew where the kerbing was but after it was done I could not tell at all, even on very close inspection and being shown the area the guy worked on.

The comparison is completely appropriate. Point is things are only worth what people are prepared to pay for them. Regardless of any difference in service. May get an awesome job for tuppence and an awful job for two grand. Reverse also applies.

But we have gone miles off topic now. If you are happy with the service you received then that's the main thing. Seeing various refurb jobs on others cars (so not just the annoying demo pieces in pictures or workshops) I know where I'd take my wheels. They cost more but the quality of the work and how it stands the test of time is the best I've seen.

More to the point imo is if a job costs £45 or £150 and you can see no visible difference between the two why would you pay the £150?

Either way if you're happy paying a premium and you feel that you have a better end product because of it then that's all that matters.

Exactly. Which goes hand in hand with things only being worth what people are prepared to pay for them.

No its not

Beatz headphones sound 100 times better than ones that cost £5 from Tesco

My wheel cost £70 and it was quite bad, hit a kerb at 40mph thanks to a bus and it took a canny gouge out of the wheel

Looks brand new. They couldnt have done a better job.

So if you want to pay £150 for a refurb that you could get done for £50 and for them to look identical, then be my guest :w4nk:

Feel for you mate.

These are repairable, by a reputable Refurb company.

I know for a fact that Lepsons (Gillingham) and Spit & Polish (Tonbridge) will both undertake Diamond cut (Machined) refurbs - Made enquiries for my MR2, they quoted me £70 per wheel but thats 15", so will be more for 18" of course.

Spit & Polish will give you a 6mths warranty, but Lepsons do not offer any warranty on Diamond Cut as they are so susceptable to being easily damage. If the laquer chips water gets underneath and causes a spiders web effect - you can have them unlaquered but that brings its own problems unless you polish them everyday! They talked me out of it in the end and i went for painted finish..

If it was me i'd give the 2 companys a call and have a chat with them, sure they will be able to sort it out for you, and have it looking good as new. :)

Get a grip. From the title it sounds like you've written the car off and killed your entire family in the process, not dinged a wheel!

Thought this too :)

I've had one of my wheels dented the same way on the first month. I must admit I was very sad. I even thought of paying myself for an entirely new wheel. Then I just forgot about it :) I've remembered only now when I read this thread. Those are just some cars. Well, shiny and beautiful but just cars. Not that I am the best example for being Zen about such stuff and in fact my girlfriend is really pissed at me always being afraid to park in tight spaces fearing of other cars opening their doors into mine but I guess we should try to be less bothered about a bunch of metal and plastics :)
