I've got vag-com partly working as in it will let me view the engine details in the common section of "select control module",but anything else I select it comes up with "no response from controller"any ideas? Also what is the activation code it says I need to get from VAG-COM for if I want to go into more detail of the engine diagnostics.Hope I am making sense.

Any help much appreciated.

If you have bought an old shareware version like 409, then I'd expect you would not need an activation code. If you have bought a copy of a slightly newer version than shareware then your vendor will supply an activation code - but if it is a copy then I'd doubt if a duplicate activation code would be made available - otherwise Ross-Tech would never make any money!

I really depends on which version you have and how much you have already paid I suppose. It would be easier to sell on what you have, maybe (a bit naughty though) and start from scratch again. Remember if you end up legalising what you have, if you end up with problems with the "non Ross-Tech" approved lead then you have just wasted more money. Check out prices for HEX+USB+CAN and see how it sounds to you. All of us with reg'd copies should really charge "mates" for using it - then buying the real thing would make sense and pay for itself! I know lots of people that would like me to help them out - without any sort of barter taking place - been caught out too many times (I'm a mug) - now its just - "no can't do scrounger".

You do need a license to get access to all modules. The Shareware version will access all modules.

If you are having this difficulty, then there is something not set right in your computer or with the cable itself. Some have found that they have to change the port the cable is assigned.

As a policy, Ross-Tech will not assist further. We simply do not have time to help solve this difficulty. Search the forums. Your problem has been discussed many times.

If you are running Vista, it may also contribute. Remember, 409 was released in September of 2004 - long before Vista was on the scene.
