Adding Adaptive Cruise control

Is it possible to add adaptive cruise control when you’ve got your vehicle? I was under the impression all the equipment is already on and adding it meant taking it to a dealer where they added the software for a price. Curious

Logically, if you've got the radar thing in the front bumper thats used for the city braking function then it should just be software and a new cruise control stalk. But in practice I’m not sure...
