its about preloading the actuator to control when the waste gate opens or how long it stays shut. on old school turbo motors like RS Turbo's this is a cheap method of achieving more boost....its also the reason why eventually they blow up.

you shouldn't adjust yours on the ibiza, its not clever really when boost is controlled electronically, especially if your unsure on what you're doing in the first place.there are reasons why you would do slightly, but not on standard turbo

it depends on how its been mapped really, its better to test with vagcom and see if there is scope to do so. much safer than just winding it in a couple turns and going for a drive

to get more boost ,

but what if i want less boost?
i counted about 20 threads from the start of the rod and was boosting in to 1.7bar and then limp mode

now i untied the screw and having about 14,15 threads andi i am getting 1.4bar of boost

have i put my turbo in danger with boost lowering on acutator?

I wound mine in quite a bit on my old (completely standard) ibiza and it boosted a lot better. drove it around for a year like this until i sold it with no problems what so ever.
I cant see how winding it out for less boost could possibly do any harm.
