its about preloading the actuator to control when the waste gate opens or how long it stays shut. on old school turbo motors like RS Turbo's this is a cheap method of achieving more boost....its also the reason why eventually they blow up.
you shouldn't adjust yours on the ibiza, its not clever really when boost is controlled electronically, especially if your unsure on what you're doing in the first place.there are reasons why you would do slightly, but not on standard turbo
it depends on how its been mapped really, its better to test with vagcom and see if there is scope to do so. much safer than just winding it in a couple turns and going for a drive
I wound mine in quite a bit on my old (completely standard) ibiza and it boosted a lot better. drove it around for a year like this until i sold it with no problems what so ever.
I cant see how winding it out for less boost could possibly do any harm.
